The fixture is absolutely rooted

Not until round 5 ( gather round) that all teams play

Dillon has no clue
dillon is just the mouthpiece

hes semi literate halfwit at best

has no real say as he gets cucked by all the geelong and colonwood supporters that are at afl house

for a supposed 'Richmond supporter ' you think thats normal?

Given that Lefau probably comes in for Faull, leaving Gray as second ruck, could Gray spend some time on the wing where I think he would be suited. Played 32% game time last week which is under-utilised.
He's a key defender. Needs to develop his game in that role.

Surely Gray would get dropped if its Lefau. Lefau can ruck the 20% of the time that Nank doesn't.

Yeah, Yze said as much yesterday, that Gray only rucked because of injuries to Sampson and OHB + the Lefau suspension.
Grey will be geared for defensive cover moving forward.

I am very much looking forward to seeing Mykelti back in the seniors, crashing packs and roaming the ground - had a fine game last week in the VFL practice match.

One of the good things that Yze has done is that he has protected the young kids during match day.

Seen so many young prospects in struggling sides being thrown in the deep end against mature bodies that invariably prematurely shorten or dampen their careers as injuries develop into long term soft tissue rust

This is aside from the frustrating rehab set backs we are plagued by that is not a game day management.

So give credit Yze has not given into pressure being a cellar dweller side ATM and pumping young bodies as cannon fodder into the cauldron although we all want to see our kids playing in the guts of their natural positions

This cautious management will set us up in a far more durable position going forward the next 3 to 5 years. Adem is probably acutely aware of such issues having a young son on the cusp of VFL -> AFL level.

The post match interview after the Carlton loss Yze was very protective of criticism of his players, big tick

He is slowly improving game day but his coaching is still not super sharp and that will ultimately make or break him as a young coach but so far a good start to 2026.

I think the system is still a bit like swiss cheese that Adem is employing as we have drafted the players for a forward half contested game we just cannot get them on the park so our back line will be getting a work out forcing us to play rebound footy

Apart from Lynch gee whiz Fawcett looks like our most natural young forward not the power of Mykelti or the aggression of Jonty but he is a clever forward. Armstrong CHF pushing to attacking wing with Fawcett and Faull deeper looks quite a treat.

Lynch and Mykelti a lot of muscle in that duo for the younger bodies to develop around.

This is where I get frustrated with the constant calls to drop some of the older guys for younger players. There is a reason we're playing those older guys and it's to do with things like structure, leadership, protection & execution of the game plan.

I mean it would be great to see all the kids playing, but when they get thumped every week and I don't mean on the scoreboard but getting smashed in contests by bigger & fitter opponents, they don't develop as much as they do when they have those senior bodies around them.

Last week is a great example, when Lalor was in the centre early on he was often matching up against Cripps at stoppages which is a great learning experience for him playing against a 2 time Brownlow medal winner, but as the game went on the match up changed and Lalor would then be on a guy like Hewett and the more mature Hopper spent time on Cripps.

It may not please everyone seeing the side picked the way that it is, but in the long run the rewards will be worth it.

It's ok when you have a few youngsters but when you have as many as ours and on a rebuild you need to play them and get as many games as possible. Thinking Lefau is the be all, when Gray is the future as the kid can ruck defend and play forward is nuts

Maybe, but they might want to stick with the 3 tall forwards. Pretty lean forward line when Lefau rucks 32% of the time (based on Gray last week). Just Lynch and Armstrong who lets face it is just holding in there, 6 disposals last week.

So drop Gibcus, Balta, Miller or Broad. Not going to happen. I'd rather see him get some game time in a position where we are weak and he could be good in. Better than warming the bench for 66% of the game.

Gray will be dropped.

Maybe, leaves us pretty lean up front when rucking. Not a fan of dropping players after rd.1 especially when your CHF has a week off. In like for like and utilise Gray better.
Yeah I'd keep Gray we don't have a better all-round utility and he needs senior exposure even if it's patchy.
