Why would he want to stay? Consistently played out of position.
He could move teams and become a full time midfielder which would be massively beneficial for his career earnings.
Couple of guys nearing the end of their mid rotation so should get a look in.

If Butters was to go to the Dogs as an example then that might be a bit of a set back. Wonder whether he could be used in a trade - assuming Port match the bid.

Still yet to be sold on Saunders so hoping we're not into him at this point. Perhaps he does something this year to change my opinion on him.

If Sanders increased Rankine's handball recieved to 20 per game he's be worth it.

Absolutely. Metres gained is the wrong metric to use for a player who primarily handballs.

The real question would be the average metres gained by the recipients of his handballs.

The comment was in reference to Wayno's long held of history on here of putting down players like Matt Crouch for example for the very same practice of being handball happy, a ratio of 3 kicks to 18 handballs by Sanders certainly fits into that category yet he was saying Sanders 2026 form was good.

Didn't mean to suggest you didn't like Sanders, just using your stats to make my point. There's still a place for the player who gets the ball and can handball to the right people.

And by the way typo there it was 3 kicks 18 handballs.

You're not great on context are you ..... my comment on 2026 Sanders was based on 1 game, where his movement in traffic looked much better

His kick / handball ratio 0:17 is a miniscule sample ....and I make allowances for a 21 YO player versus a 26/28 YO

Sanders 1st year was a 0.64 ratio

Crouch handballed by choice, because he wouldn't use his legs to drive out of contests ......he was dropped because of it, and only when he used his legs more, did he get a spot back in the side

I didn't see the dogs game but with the mids they have, Sanders may be being instructed to win the ball in close and feed Bont, Richards etc who are their top tier players. Nothing to suggest Sanders is just a crouch clone at all, it may just be a current role he is told to play?

Good point ....you never know what the Coaches instructions are against particular opponents

But with Crouch, we know it was a trend against the Coaches wishes

Keep trying bud, I really don't get why you just seem to come on here trying to piss people off, pretty sad really. Whatever gets your rocks off I guess.

Rules for thee, but not for me. What a hypocrite.

Let's compare apples with apples not apples with oranges of course Sanders may well improve his kick to handball ratio but that is in no way guaranteed as generally old habits aren't necessarily that easy to change.

Matt Crouch averages
Season 1 - 8 games 16.5 disposals 7.9 kicks 8.6 handballs
Season 2 - 17 games 21 disposals 8.5 kicks 12.5 handballs
Season 3 - 22 games 27.7 disposals 11.4 kicks 16.3 handballs

Riley Sanders averages
Season 1- 14 games 16.5 disposals 6.4 kicks 10.1 handballs
Season 2 - 21 games 18.6 disposals 5.9 kicks 12.7 handballs
Season 3 - 1 game 21 disposals 3 kicks 18 handballs

Worth noting Crouch only ever played midfield whereas Sanders has also played quite a bit forward where there is less pressure.

Assisted meters gained is now available on Wheelo

Ryley Sanders averaged 250 assisted meters gained last year, which is around 60th in the AFL of players to play more than 10 games

Did you mean 'where it is much harder to accumulate possessions?'
