I agree

Recall the stat quoted when the rule was changed was because 30 % of rucks had suffered pcl from jumping or patella impact injuries . Not sure what has changed to stop this reoccurring.
Highly likely the AFL forgot about this when making the rule change.

Just had a quick google for when they limited the run ups to the centre circle - the below is interesting in hindsight, with their concern about wrestling and blocking etc

Just wanted to highlight why I like him

He competes . He will never die wondering

He wont have many high possession games ie +20 but he will fill a spot and do his role

I liken him to Keane - he might crash the wrong pack and spoil a team mate but he will then go after the ball to fix it. He will make a mistake or 2 but try his best to remedy it

Good luck Finn

He is likeable. We will forgive the torp-turned-drop punt decision for him and a Keane in a way we would never for a Jones or a ROB.

For a big guy that is also a 2nd string ruck, that comment highlighted says it all. He also knows how to take contested marks too. Well worth persevering with unless he proves otherwise

Glad he got a second opportunity, we saw more in him than his first, another one for another look would be good

Also because he's young and only played like 5 games compared to ROB who is 30, played 150 and is in the leadership group

I thought it was odd when he took that big mark late he didn’t rush back quickly and almost turned his back on the play.
A simple goal to RT wouldve followed if he went back quickly and popped it over the top.

Yeah for sure. He will have been told to look at the handball offload or if not there, put it to the hotspot when next he is outside 50 with ball in hand. But he just looks like he could be the answer as a back up ruck

Had some important little moments that wont show on the stats sheet.

Has a real crack at it, which couldnt be said for many of his team-mates. Has to stay in the side this week
Would we have won the game last night with Fog in the team instead of Finbarr? I'm not sure we do but others can have their thoughts.
For a big guy who has played <10 games, I think his output is very promising. it's the athleticism which is brilliant to watch and adds difference to our tall forwards. If we can get him leading in another direction to Thilthorpe, oppo defenses are going to struggle to double team TT.

This year's Fog no, Fog at his best.... probably yeah.

There was a lot of what-ifs from Friday night, if any one of them occurred we pro probably win.

Alas.

This is true except it wasn’t quite a pop it over the top, Thilthorpe was heading back to the square, a fair bit of hang time for a 50m kick.
But it was probably a higher % play than the kick for goal was.

Considering how hard we make it for ourselves it’s amazing we’ve been as close as we have to good sides.

Might be controversial but I’d play Maley ahead of Fogarty.

Not because he’s a better player, but Walker and Fogarty are just too similar. I think we’ve seen enough now that in high pressure finals style games they don’t really complement each other. Finbar’s crash and bash style and ability to take a proper contested grab fits better I feel.

At the moment, Walker’s output is higher than Fog’s so if we pick 3 of them, I’d go Thilthorpe, Walker and Maley.

Bit of a moot point though as the obvious move is ROB out, Fog in and Finbar plays forward/second ruck.

Looks an ok third tall/ruck option once we're dealing with the post-Tex world.

I think the O'Brien era has finished unless injury strikes.
With TT not being a preferred second ruck, it's Finbarr or Toby.

Finbarr has the edge in this contest presently...to my eye at least.
Toby better as a ruck but Finbar offers more as a forward from my limited looks at them.

But surely they won’t go back to ROB after Friday.
