My good mates son is one of the data analysts for the New York City Soccer club, the stuff they get to play with, as in software is off the charts. I'd happily donate the kidney of anyone here on Bigfooty, ;) just to get my hands on an AFL version so I could AI the crap out of it. Heaven!
You can donate mine. (Just as long as you donate it to me.)

To be fair, when you're still in it all, it's easier.

These guys are long out of the game and the game changes, unlike others.
Fair point. Perhaps Fox would be better off retiring King and Montagna and recruiting recently-retired players like Titch instead.

Then again, Jeff White, who is more or less of similar vintage, makes King and Montagna look like duds too.

Yep, i think we need shows by the recently retired. But then they just stay forever and become old farts out of touch like King

They should be putting the recently sacked coaches in those roles.

Put Longmire, Simpson, Hinkley and co in front of a whiteboard with the magnets and have them show how a Collingwood setup defensively for kickouts/centrebounce vs how WB do?

Show how sides move the ball and structure the ground offensively not just with close up vision but on the whiteboard too. It seems we just have buzz words like "quick movement, handball, contest, turnover game etc..." but no substance.

Last year Hawthorn did the same kick out 95% of the time Long to the left with most player out there. The other few times it would be 1-2 players breaking to space to the right.

Other clubs would take short kicks to either pocket and then go long, or try to switch back or go corridor. Some would take short straight up the middle. Hawthorn never did, but nobody seemed to talk about it and the reasons why.

When a recently retired player joins the media, they have that insight into the inner workings of the contemporary game, and able to provide an interesting point of view. After several years of sitting behind a desk, they become stale and toe the company line in order to remain employed.

Their opinions are no more insightful than the average football supporter, or the guy standing next to you at the bar having a beer and a casual chat about the footy. I would encourage Luke Hodge to take his talents into coaching before working in the media morphs him into just another mouthpiece.

At about 5:30 odd Ralph talks briefly about chatting to Reeves in the rooms after the game.

And good to see Justin Reeves back in the rooms supporting Ned.

Bucks wouldn’t be used to getting chewed out either. Scott looked like he was fuming heading into the rooms with Buckley practically running behind. Prior to that he also very publically got called out in the Freo game

He wouldn’t be liking it one iota and I imagine that type A personality then takes that shitty mood out on someone else. Taz didn’t back away - took it right up to him

Edit: just saw this https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/fumi...han-buckley-after-loss-to-hawthorn-c-22100739
Taz doesn't back down because he's as hard nosed off the field as he was on the field. Your not bullying him into a back down that's for sure. Likewise with Hodgey.

Bucks would have responded " Not because of anything you did personally you were just along for the ride"

Every last one of our threepeat players was an average player boosted by the talent around them. Apparently

My truth is plenty of them sacrificed individual glory for the team

Good to see Ginni starting to get the kind of recognition he deserves:

AFL media are like sheep and repeat and copy each other.

A typical Caroline article about anything Hawthorn related. Spend 75% on negativity before some positivity. She is well passed her use by date

Has anyone heard about pokies since hawthorn sold theirs?

I usually like reading Caro but not this one.
90% of the article was his naughty past and it failed to go into what makes him smart which was what the article was supposedly about.

Not sure Noodle can really 'run like the wind'!

Great coaching though if Sam can have the two big fellas share the role without jealously or begrudging the other game time. When you look at their individual stats both Meek and Ned will seem to be underperforming because they effectively only play half a game each I imagine, but if you add their results together to make one composite ruck it would be interesting to see how they compare to the other top rucks who go it alone.

If you combine stats of the two together from the weekend you get 20 disposals. You would be happy with that for a ruckman doing it himself. Than you add all the hitouts which was over 60. That's make the combination extremely potent and damaging. Meek had he's best game around the ground because he has got more energy to get to more contests now. It's definitely a win-win situation right now.

As usual Lloyd is slot on the money with his analysis. He is right, they are both huge, huge men its a huge ask for a solo ruck (no matter how good) to go up against that pair all day long.

I've never had an ex player who I hated so much as a player yet respect so much as an analyst 😂

Wish I had a naughty past! (one worth talking about)
I'm amazed at the amount of living Ginni has packed into his life at the ripe old age of 23!

Caro and all the other washes up dusty old journos are just jealous of a guy living his life with zero f..s given TBH.

I mean what exactly has Ginni done that is so terrible? Has he ever assaulted someone, committed theft, abused anyone?

We always ask for our players to show character and the moment they do they get smacked from pillar to post, a bit sad really.
