The issues with Cmac are above the shoulders.

When he's on - my word, he's a 20+ disposals 2 goal a game player. Almost unstoppable when he's on a roll.

When he's off - the defensive side slides, he doesn't chase hard, won't body the man or ball and is perceived as soft and lazy by some.

There's a key to unlock 'on' Cmac and if we find that consistently, then there is another level for him.

The big question is why he can be so 'up and down' from one game to the next.

I love it when he's on - an absolute A grader in waiting who can smash the game wide open.

We'll need THAT Cmac next season for sure, so hopefully the club are working with him to find that consistency.
He’s also doing it from a HFF. I think some stints in the midfield to get him around the ball more will benefit him and the team. Remember back when Cyril, Breust and even Poppy would take a short turn in the middle. Reckon we could do similar with Croc Wiz Moore Weddle and hopefully Dovoston. It’d be hard to coach against.

He's had a pretty good start to the year, and certainly surpassed what i thought we would get from him in the guts.

Possessions, tackles, pressure acts are all up, and he covers a huge amount of ground per game. But what stands out is his composure and cleanliness.

Plus, if goal-kicking mids are in vogue its probably not a bad idea to fashion one from a high half forward.

What a cracking draft... Ward, Butler and Cmac. Not much between Ward and Cmac. Butler tracking really well after that horrific leg break

Mcdonald pretty much goes top 10 in a retrospective draft - expect him to consolidate that position once he get more midfield time

7 coaches votes. BOG acccording to the guys that know the game the best. Great to see him grabbing the opportunity to play more mid time in Day's absence.

All being equal, once day returns I would have him staying in the middle and CMac missing out. Wouldn't have expected to say that even 4 weeks ago.

People debating Ward and MAckenzie but slept on this guy who was always a midfielder as a junior, but through sheer footy iq developed as a half forward at senior level.

I said a while back he could become our Dustin Martin "Lite" for his ability to play inside/outside mid and hit the scoreboard resting forward.

Why "lite"? You think he can only manage 2 Norm Smiths? Martin was only marginally BoG in one of his. So if he wins two, which he should (I mean 2 out of 12 consecutive GFs isn't that big a stretch.)

3 NS and 1 brownlow - yeah, Imma be a little conservative until Connor wins his first B&F
You took my post seriously? OK that was unexpected. Well played, I didn't plan for that outcome.

Feel like he’s put together a great body of work over his career to this point. And still under the radar of other supporters/teams I reckon - very underrated - but I don’t mind that! His 15-20 possessions are worth more given how clean he is.

And I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone be able to take possession of the ball and get it to foot as fast as he does and still hit a target or kick a goal. It’s unreal to watch. Value him highly

Great post and I think the only element missing is to realise exactly how good he is, and attack the goal face more often.

I wouldn't want to be a Pies or a Tiges supporter reading that. Ouch.

But to the point, that's brilliant by CMac. Reminds me of Sam saying he thinks we have the cattle to win our next flag already on the list. Shows what a good bit of opportunity can do. Now for the other CMac to get up there with him!

26th pick in the 2021 draft.....unfortunately not elite and light years behind a certain Sun legend, but coming along nicely.

He's always tackled hard IMO - it's when the situation is reversed - he will try to tap/knock the ball away rather than take possession (and the hit).

In the forward line that attribute to keep the ball in play is an asset. Not so much in the middle (or defensive 50!)

Saw him speak at an event in Adelaide over Gather Round. Spoke very surely and maturely if that makes sense. Big fan of this guy.
Very good media performer, I also seen him & Ginni at an event, C-Mac was very impressive, showed maturity with his attitude towads his footy. Although he is part of our little "rat pack" he did state he enjoys spending time with Will Day.
