He had money owed to him from around the covid time, but it's semantics. They moved him on and the money didnt stop them doing that.
ok but even if he was sacked a year early like you said, this 400k was have been owing in addition to his 2026 salary

anyway, not overly important. i agree with you if nicks needs to go this year the club will make the call. as we did with other coaches like cornes, sanderson , pike etc. nobody on here would have ANY idea about the coaches contract situation but i would imagine its likely there are some protections in place for the club limiting payouts for 2027 IF he is let go early (eg no finals win in 2026 means only a 3 mth payout etc)

You bitch & moaned (as usual) about our Finals performance last year .....overlooking the minor round performances

Can I suggest you apply the same thinking this year .....seems you're a real hypocrite when it comes to taking positions

Judge on an overall season, not game by game ....Qtr by Qtr

It's almost as if Finals matter more than minor round........................

Contrary to Bigfooty folklore
You constantly post things like this, "Bigfooty experts" etc, as if you are somehow better and smarter than the rest of Bigfooty.

If that's the case, why are you here? To impart your superior intelligence on the rest of us inferiors?

I havent seen any yet

You said you’d be happy with 5-8, that involves losing a final if you finish 7-8.

1) Finishing 6th means a minor round finish of 6-9th and winning our first final. We could finish 4th and lose two finals but one of the top three teams would also have to go out in straight sets. So 6th = win one final

2) I already stated that we had to expect more injuries, it is just that injuries to our best 18 players is way above long term averages, just like last year was well below long term averages.

3) Butts played well earlier in the season. He has struggled since coming back from the concussion, to the extent that some people are suggesting that we bring back Borlase. Hopefully everything will be rosy from now on.

4) Watching Edwards in the SANFL makes me question whether he will ever be an AFL midfielder. I am happy to play him in front of most of our fringe players but he will not improve our team in the immediate future.

5) I don’t often agree with every selection decision. I clearly stated that I would rest Tex and Thilthorpe BEFORE last match. Do you believe different selections would have made any difference to last week’s result? We have tried lots of fringe players and many different role changes.

Most of our fringe players are not AFL standard. You can cope with 2 or 3 fringe players, 7-8 is just too hard to cover.

I occasionally post my thoughts. Several years ago I agreed to stop mocking other posters who felt it necessary to attack other posters. I do think a block posters want to attack everyone that doesn’t agree with them.

So be it.

Ciao Giacomo cant quote your post as you’ve just edited mine.

Again you said you’d be ok with a 5-8 finish, 7-8 means you’ve lost your only final.

Again the players you mentioned ie Butts and FOG played rounds 1-3 and Borlase did well in Butts absence. Of the other players you mentioned, they haven’t all missed at the same time.

We have 2 AFL games and some preseason games to go on for Edwards, I believe he did well in the preseason and should have been selected over a clearly underdone Soligo at the start of the year. He’s played one good AFL games and one poor one, as did all our midfield in that game.

Selecting 4 talls last week didn’t cost us the game, that’s because we collectively sucked, if we hadn’t collectively sucked, then yeah it could have, irrespective that doesn’t discount it was a stupid selection.

As for stupid gameplan and slow starts? Surely you agree that’s on Nicks.

Clear game plan issue here

We look a lot like GWS at the very end of the Leon Cameron era.

They went from a fast, running in waves style to a slow, contest-heavy, bomb to the boundary line style.

Clear game plan issue here

Throw in the stat someone posted the other day about our kicking game not leading to marks, so we are effectively missing targets or bombing long.

I just don’t get how a coaching panel, can’t identify how a new enforcement of the stand rule could be used to advantage. Hand balling to a player after he’s passed the player on the mark, opens up play, moves the ball quickly, gains metres, gives your forwards a better chance of a one on one contest and there’s less pressure of a turnover kick. It’s a ****ing no brainer.
