Close to career best footy after 8 games this year after winning Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award last year, and recently awarded AFL Life Membership - I am giving the man a shout:

  • 76.2% disposal efficiency which is best since 2021 (79%) and his 3rd best season on record
  • 464.6 metres gained average which is best since 2019 (477.9) and 3rd season on record
  • Best disposals per clanger (9.7) since 2015 (9.9) and his 2nd best season on record
  • 2.8 intercept possessions per game which is best since 2022 (2.9) and 2nd best season on record
  • 7 marks per game which is his best season on record
  • 1 score launch per game which is his best season on record
  • 2.4 one percenters per game which is his best season on record

He looks exactly like the player we thought we were getting when we picked him up this year. I think it was last year I jumped onto the Hill train just through his extraordinary work rate. When you go to matches you see the ground he covers and the options he provides through sheer fitness and will power. Cultural gem as well. He's become a quiet leader and training pace and culture setter.

Always smiling and always composed. In a lot of indigenous cultures their elders are the guys that have the culture in their hands, set an example and offer wisdom and guidance. That's the role he seems to have taken on for the other indigenous guys there. Part father figure, part teacher- full time role model. Guys like Hill and Wood are developing good young men and solid citizens with life skills through their efforts off field. Worth as much as their output on the field.

Hope both can find roles at the club post footy. Those types are then backbone of good organisations. Both would leave a massive hole behind them.

Love his exuberance.
He’s clearly having the best time of his life and I think it rubs off on his teammates.
Such a star.

A captain's performance on and off-field this year. Now one of my favourite players.

285 games, so barring any injuries or being dropped, his 300th game should be the final H&A game of the season, against the Suns at Marvel.

Hopefully it won't be our final game of the season.

Would love for him to go for a couple more seasons and give 350 a shake!

There is no doubt Brad is having a career best year with our club. His gut running has been outstanding particularly late in games, he has become a real leader at the club.

He is also not getting exposed defensively and looks really composed when playing across the half back line. Its a testament at his age that he can still improve his game. He must be a real inspiration for the other indigenous lads we have on our list - the guy is a gem.

I've definitely been guilty of taking him for granted, on field at least, I've always been a huge fan of what he brings to the club culturally.

But this year, he is really showing that he's not done yet, I thiught he could be forced out this year, but it wont be anytime soon if he keeps playing like this.

When their careers do ultimately come to an end, I think it is so important that we keep him and Wood at the club in some role.

Quality people, quality leaders, true professionals.

Lets hope some of our current high paid recruits can blossom like Brad Hill has done.

In a team structure that suits his game. The transition/overlap game is made for guys like Hill.

The thing that has impressed me more is his kicking, and that can be attributed to the gamestyle. No more loopy kicks to a pack, most are laser like drilling passes to the next in the link or to a leading forward into the fifty.

The gamestyle had to come to Brad, he was never adjusting to the boring switch down the line then stoppage.

Been saying, Lyon has drilled into the team the defensive side of the game, now the attack is coming through and Hill is there for it.
Why it is important to keep Wilson. These players are the future of football.

Melbourne did something very similar under Paul Roos, before Simon Goodwin profited from it in the end.

Demons got their defence sorted first and then expanded on it from there.
