List Mgmt. AFL Mid-Season draft - May 26, 2026

Could we opt to have Olli Hotton join his brother on the senior list. Averaging 22 disposals 2.5 marks 2.5 tackles a game this year in our VFL side. At 21 he has a few years of senior football under his belt including a stint in the AFL already with the Saints. Would be a handy addition to our midfield/forward stocks and suits the way the game is heading.

Campbell Gray
James Trezise
Marlon Pickett

Not a bad strike rate.

Notwithstanding we could have done better in some spots, but we have done ok.
Average MSD picks' careers. Pick 1 14 games.

Pick 2 has been OK 42 games

Pick 5 ................6 games

Pickett was a gun. Tresize barely best 23 for most.

I like Gray but is he playing ahead of a fit Gibcus.
we need Hopper/Prestia upgrades. Ruck depth. FA the GWS guy

Give El Nour a spot. Keep oppo clubs away

Given his lack of two-way running is mentioned nearly every single week by Madgen in his VFL report, I doubt it at this stage.

gibscus is not just unfit he doesnt know how to play anymore. el nour a much better option

At this stage of our development we are not particularly after a player that will make us instantly better for the remainder of this year.
However, a maturish aged player that will strengthen our structure and help others development could be a consideration.
Sort of like when we grabbed Robbie Tarrant or going back further Brad Miller.
Currently - midfield has more than enough enough mature-aged players - as does medium backs with Vlas & Broad.
Forward - seems covered only by Lynch, who is likely to continue missing the odd game. Worth looking, but not sure if there would be suitable players available in the MSD?

Otherwise, it feels like the MSD is where best success is with a "utility" type of player.
Tresize & Pickett both fitted that bill. Not going to find a world beater but handy versatile role players.

We have a keen eye on Toby Sinnema
Interesting. Source?

Dees NGA prospect that they didn't nominate prior to the draft and was overlooked last year. Trained with the Dees in pre-season. "Toby Sinnema is a pacey, athletic winger who runs all day and has a lethal left foot."

Averaging 16 disposals and 4 marks per game in his 5 matches (one of them last year) for Casey.

We Have a long list of injuries and appears it will be this way until the end of the season

I really dont understand why we wouldn't go a machine gun approach and select 3-4 kids under 22 and have a look at them for the remainder of the season and keep the 1 maybe 2 that show they are upto the level and if more then even better we can clear some of the ones that have not shown much in a longer period.

Its a cut throat business and we are dead last needing all the help we can get to accelerate this rebuild quickly
Winning games is not a priority the next 2 years but finding talent that will take us to a flag in 5-8 years should be the aim

Smillie , Gibcus , Clarke , Lalor , Mansell , Cumming or even Prestia & Broad could be retired off to get the 4 spots
Its never been done but why not ? Lets become the club that leads the way with this type of thinking

What is the point of having players that "MAY' get 1-3 games at the end of the season that dont mean anything except get reinjured

Given he would be a MSD pick, you've got to expect some areas that aren't quite up to scratch

and why should I ask? are they needs or just best available? we need needs, its that simple.
We do not need a third tall, defence is our most experienced area and we have Floss, Gray and Trainor who could all play that intercepting role. Our weakest area is the middle and our least experienced is forward.

Tom Barnett could be worth a look. 196cm athletic intercepting key defender, which is an area of need with Gibcus out and Balta redeployed elsewhere.

Had 28 touches and 8 marks on the weekend against Brisbane, and has been consistently good in the VFL for Coburg.

Had a pretty good game against us in the VFL too.
At 20 years old, he could be a decent option given injuries down back and Balta looking better in a utility role
