He certainly got his hands on the pill a bit more. 19 disposals? His touch was pretty decent tonight, too and he’s always able to sniff a goal. But it would be interesting to see the stats on this move, as it is all about tank with Freddy.

Could this be a defining move? Stints on the wing, through to HF/pocket?

The despair in there and realisation our win tonight was credible was so deflating.

Some had Hawks home after the pearce intercept lol.

Loved it. I have been asking for it for a few years. It gives him more freedom and space to use his pace.

One slight negative (not really a negative per se) for me is Bolton getting 22 disposals but 17 of those were handballs. He is the kind of player that we want that ledger flipped so he is having 17 kicks and 5 handballs.

it definitely seemed to work for you guys tonight. I’m pushing for us to introduce a Hawkey Time if it’s that easy. You guys look different this season I have to say and while I’m proud of the hawks for pushing you as far as we did on your home deck I dont think we ever really deserved to win the game. Your inaccuracy was what kept us in the lead. 15pts probably flattered us in the end. It’s a long season though. Hopefully we get another crack at you later in the year. I like to believe that the team that loses earlier in the year has an edge going into the second clash. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

* In the lead up to Freddie’s first goal, Clark scything through the corridor, then Bolton’s spin to get away from the tackler and beautifully weighted kick to Freddie, and Clark charging on to lay a beautiful shepherd as Freddie kicked it. Great goal!

* Sicily ducking his head like a campaigner and then Wombat nailing Duke for HTB then a goal.

* Amiss keeping us in it with two clutch set shots, especially that second one from 50 when we really needed to stay within touching distance.

* Was good to be able to watch Gunston’s forward craft. And well done Cox for getting back in the battle.

* Andy seeing the sign my 6 year old made, and picking him out to give him a little red footy at the end. Legend!
