Rumour Bluemour Discussion XLI

If it's even slightly true AND the Cripps camp isn't happy with the decision then I expect we'll soon hear about it via a strategic leak to a journo or two.

Surely this is a more a discussion with Wright and Cripps of 'if you want to be traded back to WA or a club in the window we'd look a it provided the deal is good".

I highly doubt its - Sorry Paddy - you're out the door - thanks for everything !'

If you're trading Cripps this year is the time to do it.

He's still playing well so has some value (see Montagna's piece on First Crack). He has a year left on his contract so teams won't be locked in long term.

But we know he's got miles on his clock and his best days are behind him. The game is only getting faster and he's only getting slower.

Coach List Manager Captain ? more to come....

Hodge , Lewis example at Hawthorn Buckley, Grundy Treloar examples at Collingwood

oh and rebuilds take 3-4 years f you get everythign right

I remember the funny story after Sam Micthell was traded to West Coast.

Hodge rang him and said 'Did you just get traded for pick 86 ?' :D

Big call to make in round 10 with no list manager.

Freo's first pick will be 20ish by the time bids come through - probably the best we could hope for.

We have one of the most experienced list managers as CEO.

He is still a top 10 midfielder but I think we’ll facilitate a trade to where he wants to go.

Does Adelaide pitch to him given they lack some inside midfield power, they certainly have outside mid covered.

Sad to see him go but we have enough players to cover potentially at a cheaper price and I think we need new leaders urgently.

Same I posted a few months ago. Tough decisions will be made and no one or nothing is off the table

Very very different club come Rd One 2027

Happy to see the end of the “country club” era, that’s for sure.

Carlton first, Graham …

If this was to happen and Cripps is gone I can understand that many supporters would be upset by that. It would be sad to see no doubt as he has given everything for our club.

At the end of the day though, I just want to see the Club succeed, I don't care who plays for the Club. Players come and go, I support the Club.

Re: Cripps rumour, two very different opinions based on how the alleged conversation went.

If it was a conversation like "hey Cripp, just think next year we want to move towards a youth movement, giving captain to Walsh, playing the kids more etc., you're more than welcome to stay even if it means maybe not being captain and getting a game every week, if not we're happy to explore options at the end of the year". Very fair conversation and treating a club legend with respect.

If it was more along the lines of "we are moving you on at the end of year no matter what", even if strategically it might be the best move you have to treat a potential top 5 Carlton player of all time with more respect. Too ruthless and you end up like North when they culled Boomer, Petrie and the like. Not good.

what I was told: "there are no more sacred cows" - I hope that includes at board level too!
This means that this is a rebuild. Not saying anyone is indispensable, but if the next generation is the go, the club has to navigate this really carefully with the supporter base.

I think there a several supporters who've became offside with the club in the last season, and now there's a huge risk of more of it to come, with increased force.

I note that Rob P (or GW, can't exactly remember) mentioned yesterday at the presser that they were working on the next 3yr plan.

This plan had better be sold to supporters as the clear path to the holy grail otherwise the club could be in big trouble.

This offseason is either going to platform us for success or drive us into the depths of the ladder for the next 5-10 years. My fear is that we're heading down the latter because I have no idea what the club is planning or what the strategy is.

A good post. And don’t rule out a third option. Perhaps he has gone to the club and said he wants to go back home?

Re: Cripps there have been strong rumours for a few months now that he will head back home at years end and club will be happy to make it happen. It will be another Wright respectful exit

Can't confirm as fact but his body language etc says to me it may well be true
Listen carefully to his presser yesterday, literally said “I’m committed ti the club for this year” after saying he is contracted until the end of next year.

Im pretty sure most the people constantly blaming the board dont know what boards actually do.
I'm amazed at how strongly held some opinions are, on things that most won't be privy too. F'd if I know which assistant coach is more highly credentialed than another, what are we basing it on?
