With Bergman out for 10-12 weeks and Rozee out for another 6-8 weeks, I think a running/rebounding half back that can also transition into the wing in the future is definitely a pressing need. Currently we are the worst in the comp for transition from defence to offence and while we were fine with it in the first few weeks, since Rozee has been injured and Bergman has been moving back and forth, we haven't had many provide that drive off HB.

Seriously though, getting Artemis would be a nice addition to the wing and one of Herbert or Montgomery would provide Port some much needed run and carry from down back.

I don't think it'll work because don't expect Artemis and Herbert to get past our first pick and maybe Montgomery is a possibility for our 2nd pick

Depends on what Essendon and Carlton do. Essendon could open a spot and put Fiorini on LTI. And Carlton could open a spot and put O'Farrell on LTI. Then we'll have pick 5...

You don't have to give a MSD draftee a contract for 2027. You can keep them on the list and pay them until 31st October. You take a ruck because there is no guarantee both Sweet and Vis wont be injured at the same time.

The 2 players that allowed us to have MSD picks with season ending injuries are Soldo and Lord - a ruck and a 2nd ruck type.

If we're bringing Lai or Marshall back next week and Watkins isn't clearly better than Lorenz (or Anasta) tonight, drop Watkins and give the other two a proper shot. Rotate the squad a bit and give everyone who deserves it a proper go rather than sticking slavishly to a depth chart.

Happy if they pick and develop a young ruck, 3rd in line, as its unlikely that there will be enough picks in the next 2 drafts to grab one. Best to start that cycle now with Soldo going and draft picks focussed elsewhere.

A lot of the better MSD prospects are putting up 18month contract requirements because there's a good chance they're going to have to move interstate.

Agreed, Farrell always looks better when he’s got another elite rebounder next to him. With back there, his whole game opens up.

we have never been the club to draft someone and only keep them for 6 months, IIRC we have never delisted a MSD pick after 6 months. Imo we have higher priorities then a ruckman to play SANFL for half a year then get delisted.

We have Moss who has been playing second ruck in the SANFL if the worst case scenario happened where both sweet and Vis go down. Even Esava could cover, not saying it’s ideal but we could make do.

I’m of the View that we are better off getting Marcus Herbert and Louie Montgomery over a Caleb May or Van wyk, then waiting til the end of the year to either get Dodson or draft a young ruckman.
