And people wonder why they're not winning games. Dogs are relying on youngsters atm. Getting games into them. Since 2024 Dogs have been working on refreshing the list to compete and the expectation on here by some are too high.
I think the frustration is that we’re constantly in this position.

Pretty much because for the last few years they've been losing experience more than they can replace it. Last year the team lost Jones, Scott, Duryea, JJ, Harmes & JUH. That's about 800 games experience gone and only Buderick came in. Went from 5th to 10th in avg games. The year before lost Keath, Macrae, Daniel, Smith, and only got Kennedy.

The signing of Will Lewis to bolster our KpF depth was the same kind of convenience-signing as McComb. This, we need someone, so we’ll just take the next man up from Footscray mentality has to end.

Lewis is trying hard, in some ways, but is undersized, very slow, unathletic and is too old to say there’s any ceiling there or any benefit to playing him. There had to be other options out there that could offer at minimum the same output but with other factors in their favour. Height, age, speed, athleticism, something. But we know why Lewis was picked. And it’s just frustrating how this seems to play out most years.

There are about 4 players who deserve to pull on the geurnsey after that game and that's being generous. After efforts like that, I wouldn't want to play with some of these players. That was the definition of insipid.

Jones: 2 tackles for the game and he's our fastest player.
Baker: 0 tackles.
Naughts: 0 tackles
West: 0 tackles
Budarick: 0 tackles
Buss: 0 tackles
Khamis, Dale, Davidson: 1 tackle.

Carlton: 2 less tackles, but 8 more tackles inside 50.
Smashed in contested possessions.
Beaten in clearances.
Smashed in I50s.
Smashed in workrate.

There is nothing to like about this team at the moment, and Bont, and the few others who are working can't flipping do it on their own.

Personally, I'd still go for Butters, but we need to fk off some dead weight.

Where do we go from here, honestly I’m speechless
Bont, Sanders, Naughton done there job

Emmett, Davidson don’t want to see them the rest of the year
Kennedy he’s got to be on notice, he’s gone backwards
Hynes looks like that nervous whenever the ball gets 5m near him

Williams is a massive loss for us, our most underrated player going to be hard to replace

Feel like Coffield has done enough for a one year extension
What has he done? Honestly would love your opinion, because he's delist material for me.

Before we do that we need someone in his place. Gardner will be gone soon as depth.

He's playing back to back weeks of AFL which is bevo tick off extension

Hey guys I watched Croft in the VFL today and while he was quiet he had a couple of moments that showed why he was a high pick.

I know he's got another few contracted years, how far off cracking the first team is he?

The classic combo of strength and a bigger tank. Still could get some games particularly since everyones so prone to a injury.

Whichever team is offering Khamis 3 years on 750k is insane. If that's his price we have to let him go. Would be happy 3 years on average money, but that is a crazy amount for such a flawed player.

Watching from behind the goals tonight he repetitively pealed off his man, didn't impact the contest and was stuck in no man's land. It becomes an easy pass over the top and shot on goal. He's an okay third tall when he has limited accountability, but even then isn't damaging enough to be playing in that type of role.

One of the most disappointing players on our list in my opinion. Marking and kicking skill show no improvement and when used as a 2nd ruck quite inadequate in that role. If the club can train him to play a specific role and he works on his self-improvement, he may become a better player next season.

Don't sell the farm for Butters. We have Sanders that's all I'll say.
Lost the game in the midfield tonight. I think Butters coming in lifts the pressure off Bont to carry the team. Meaning he can play a few more years. Butters provides more than elite mid. He's also a leader. Someone to take over for Bont.

I must admit, I must have missed what everyone else has seen with Ballard. No idea why we would be so excited about him…
He is exactly what we need a shutdown defender. He cannot get into the Suns lineup ahead of Sam Collins, it would not suit modern game style to play two of that type.
Butts is another similar type. A player type we’ve been sadly lacking for years

I actually would like to see him preseason worked into a kpd role. He has the athleticism, size and is quite tough. His skills are poor but a lot of kpds will just keep it simple and are successful.

The most disappointing aspect of Croft is how the club has been developing him as a forward/ruck.

We just flat out refuse to develop tall defenders when it's so bleedingly obvious that it's our sides biggest weakness.

Darcy #2 was bought in as a defender too and he's been playing forward. Just boggles the mind.

I don't think recruiting Butters is the move. Our list has too many issues. I think we need to cut deep and commit to a proper rebuild. Time to plan for life after Bont too. Bev will never agree to doing that though - he loves finishing middle of the table because it prevents him from losing his million dollar salary.

Thanks mate - I just haven't seen enough of him, or don't remember as I'm getting old....

We had 9 players out last night with less than 50 games experience and 16 less than 100. So we are actually in the middle of a rebuild.

Libba and Treloar are done. Bont will be 31 next year. Butters is an absolute need. along with a FB.

How's the midwifery going, by the way?

Played back in the VFL yesterday, FINALLY

We have the list profile of a rebuilding team. Too many years of drafting kids, bringing in PSD/MSD picks and not enough trading for experienced talent.

I wanted us to delist Coffield last year, but now i am seeing how important it is that we keep someone like him as depth on the list. With our injuries, he has come in and played his role to a competent level. Get rid of him and we're replacing him with yet another kid who has 3-4 years of development ahead of them.

The difference between us and the more competitive sides is that when we cop injuries, we bring in teenagers to get destroyed in the ruck, while they bring in 100+ gamers
