Review The Prancing Pony Pummels the Bombers

Female umpire (Jordyn Pearson I think?) was a lot better than Eleni and the female commentator (Jess Webster) was a lot better than Kelli.
Jess Webster is an awesome commentator - she regularly commentated the boys U18's champs and did so brilliantly.

She's clearly got a background in play description for radio, really nails the play by play, which is nice. The ex-player types can't do that, they're just window dressing often (do NOT get me started on Ben Cousins, who clearly doesn't even have the brain to do that, just sits there with a grin, poor bugger)

I thought i turned the game on an hour early or something when I saw the crowd.

I reckon of that 20 odd thousand half were Dockers supporters. You guys were so loud!
Went to the game. Reckon maybe 5000 might have been. Great sight at the end when the Essendon fans had all left and the Freo fans had all stayed. The players came down that end and you might as well have been at Optus!

Matthew Lloyd's gone to town today and he's spot on. I've never seen a more deflated and defeated fan group. After the first three goals they were just flattened and literally made no noise. The bloke next to me was the type to go every week and he was so frustrated he left at half-time. At most other clubs Scott would be gone this week.

On the performance, the players themselves were annoyed about the second half. And the coach did some coaching, dragging both Jordy and Jackson after their clangers gave up goals. In the end, it was job well done, they just couldn't get the engine out of second gear in the second half.

The Freo chant was splendid! Good job you guys!

mods would it be better to have two post-match threads - one for glazing and the other for doom and gloom?

It's not really viable on a message board to tell people that you simply can't post something, but at the same time the negativity is such a downer in a year when we're finally performing at a level that we all would have given an important body part for in previous years.

Everyone is very much entitled to their view but it's exhausting watching two groups of freo fans with so much in common go at each other for their perception of a win (or a loss tbh).

Arguably his best game in purple.

What he lacks in class he makes up for in bravery and is a good overhead mark for his size.

The way he backs into packs and fills space, despite being cleaned up a number of times in the last few years is admirable .

The sort of player you need in big finals when things get tough.
was nice to see him interviewed - he rarely gets the praise he deserves

yeah I love that too. but all that matters is that inside the club walls he gets that praise & feedback. pearce backed him 2 off-seasons ago to be our big riser in form, JLO loves what he brings to the team, and even though he does make cat10 errors, he NEVER drops his head. he digs in and tries again. he is courageous and goes hard at it, all game - that is why he keeps his place in the team week in week out.

Nah then you just end up with two echo chambers.

My advice?
If you don't like the constantly negative / emotional hedgers types just put them on ignore, there isn't that many who always live in that space.
If you find the club-can-do-no-wrong a bit nauseating then there's a button for that too - ignore.

Just don't get pulled into the back and forth and pay attention to the good points that are raised for discussion, and reply to them if you feel like it.

Anything else just let it slide past, really that's their problem and not yours.

I think the flux capacitor misfired and landed you 20 years further on than you set the dial to. :D
Haha! Fixed. Too many beers watching the game. One of my friends brought over a little mini keg of Krombacher pils. My head wasn’t clear. Thanks for catching that.

Fair enough - I'm always hesitant to ignore posters because they might be a pill in one thread but bring really great insight in another.

All good, I'll sack up and wade through the division. In the meantime:

The fact every post is equally visible the best and worst thing about bigfooty. You get less of an echo chamber and more alternative opinions but you also get ALL the opinions.

I personally find the ignore button a bit lacking because it makes everything a bit disjointed but after being on here so long I find it easier to just see who posted something and scroll past it naturally

The one we player who is good at it is Leigh Montagna

You can have total moral purity and 50% less posting or try harder to think of a solution that satisfies your desire for liberty but takes into account practicality.

The bolded is not going to happen and the cycle pointless trolling negativity will continue.

What I mean is pick out the bits of posts that are worth debating and let the rest slide.

Would it be a better result if everything was 'policed' more?
I think people arc up enough naturally and if it devolves too much then we remind people of the intent.

Negativity, or positivity, by itself isn't a reason to stop someone posting.
'Winning' arguments on the internet doesn't buy you much these days..

Good post.

Sorry, missed it the first time.

I'm sure there are quite a few posters (like me) who just can't be assed engaging in the relentless harping negativity.

I fully understand critical commentary, but after the point has been made, exit the discussion until you have something new to say.

I've given up on that ever coming to pass with what in the end is a select few whingers and whiners.

90% of what Worner does is elite. Takes a great mark and is as brave as it gets. Tough as nails. If he can clean up his disposal and improve his decision making he is AA calibre
I see his ceiling as similar to Nick Vlaustin.

Third 9-game winning streak in our history... That first epic-2006 run and then the blistering 2015 start... Dare to dream next week?
That 2015 run came to halt against Richmond at Subiaco. The injury to Michael Johnson was the final straw in that game. I think by that point Jon Griffin was on one leg too.
