He started doing a few things every week last year and I thought he was draftable then. Has got gradually better since. Not sure he'll be ready immediately like Pat but i'll be hoping he's a superstar every week you don't play us
He looks like
Blicavs
Stewart
ZGuthrie
SDK

But who does he play like ?

* Also do these cats players buy their headbands all at the same place or does the club by them in bulk and just hand them out with Farms and cattle

Very ordinary backman. Regularly gets beaten 1 on 1. Always late to the contest when playing on a hard leading forward. Drops his head. Watch him closely for a few weeks and you may change your mind.
Miller has a lower 1 v 1 defensive contest loss % than Harris Andrews despite having nearly double the 1 v 1 contests. Does that makes Andrews an even more ordinary backman?

Not sure if it was just fluff but on SEN this morning they were discussing if the ability to trade MSD picks was there what would clubs have paid and apparently 1 recruiter mentioned for pick #2 an early 2nd rounder in this years draft would have been about the value. They also went onto mention Kye Annard and how he was interviewed by 11 clubs and how highly clubs valued what he could bring

seems the perfect prototype MSD selection for us. 22 yrs old fits well, 200cm and solid build, An area we are a little light on with injuries and exposed form. from highlights, good leap and mark, seems mobile for being so tall, strong at it. what's not to like. good luck Kye, give it a red hot go

In reference to some wanting El Nour instead, Mutaz has been talked about for years and no club has really gone about looking to pick him up, its not just us. There's clearly something there that clubs dont see a future in at AFL level.

Annand is bigger, younger, with more upside, and looks to have potentially better leaping and marking ability, even if was similar, he probably has more scope to improve.

if we narrow down to the backline, keep it simple a little for the moment, if he goes well in a niches backline role(s), he is a little different and helps complement and indirectly assist with the development of our younger lighter backs like Trainor, Miller, Brown, Grjl, Gibcus even though he could play forward and Smillie even though Smillie could have a thousand different roles depending on how he develops. takes pressure off Balta in the backline especially deep and even helps with the big boppa's taking pressure of the likes of Campbell Gray. stability, robustness and flexibility helps in backline units to versus opposition adaptions and changeups

My theory is that key backs suffer from a little bit of people applying confirmation bias when people try to assess them

Because when a key back loses a 1v1 it always essentially results in an opponents shot on goal and it’s replayed most of the time while the forward lines up so it sticks in our mind more compared to when the defender wins in because it’s just play on and the emotion attached is far less compared to a forward getting a goal out of the action

We dont need to, they’re currently on the list.

Taranto
Hopper
Broad
Vlastuin
Nank
Lynch
Prestia
Ross
Mansell
Short
Miller
Balta

GWS picked Cornes, McDonald, power and brogan, plus 20-22 year olds in Davis, Ward, Palmer, Scully and Reid.
Listened to the Brad Scott interview and was asked about what was needed when he arrived at Essendon that was missing and if he had is time again ( not exact words but to that effect)

Mature role model players that were leaders to guide the kids through
I think Richmond are very lucky with the senior players we have to help the kids through the early years both on & off the ground and during the week with things even outside of football. Just very unlucky with injuries which is holding back their onfield development

From the highlights ive seen he most looks like SDK with his playing style. Hopefully with a little more aggression.

I love the pick personally

That 11 clubs interviewed him is impressive…

Seems we’ve landed a quality player …even better…a versatile 2m player

By putting all our eggs in the ' high draft picks leads to success ' basket. Didn't work for the Suns, hasn't worked for North.

In the last three years we haven't attracted one experienced player to the club, while having Baker, Young, Rioli, Graham and Bolton leave.
All three of them had no base to start with. North culled to deep and suns/giants obviously started from scratch. Or situation is different with premiership and experienced players on our list.

So 10 other clubs were extremely keen on this bloke however I wouldn’t be too optimistic because LOTW doesn’t rate him.
What a flog that bloke is
Good to hear someone calling it for what it is. In the face to community, people wouldn't put up with it. Here people talk shit and put down players and the club get away with it.
