Nervous with anticipation. Not felt like this before a game in a long time.

I can't remember a more critical game for us in a long time. Not necessarily for finals but merely to show where we are at as a club and on the big stage.

We are being pumped up everywhere in the media and even by the opposition. We've seen many false dawns. Many of our critics itching to see another one. Lose and they get their wish, win and we take the next big step forward.

The more I think about this game, the more I see it coming down to one man - Cotch. Reflecting on our games this year and the times we have played well - he has been instrumental. During the win last week you could see the side respond to him time and time again.

I wanted to Dimma to anoint him captain this year but the move was probably unnecessary - he is already our on-field leader. The official title will come.

Watters will almost certainly send Jones to him but Cotch has demonstrated the ability to work through a tag and to move forward and kick goals. Our other midfielders have improved in giving him a chop out as well.

Saints have their own spiritual leader in Lenny. Hayes is a champion but is closer to the end of his great career, Cotch is just warming up.

I know I am over simplifying and underestimating the battle of each team's small forwards - but I think if Cotch posts his usual stats we'll get over this hurdle.

I hope he's as edgy as I am. Go Tiges.

Milne carved us up on his own, adding 2 less experienced guys in Malaria and Sad on the big stage will help us I think, less ball going through Milne the better and those two rush their disposal under pressure.

Jones is out of touch, Cotch will destroy him, umps will give a few early ones too I hope.

Go Tige's!

I think deledio deserves to be captain next. He gets 4 years and then it's the cotch for another four years. Make him captain this year? Lol u seen jack trengrove this year?

No disrespect to Lids, who will finish his career as a champion, but I'll be surprised if Cotch is not appointed in the next two years Syd. Watch this space. Trengove and Cotch two very different players and situations.

The great thing about tonight is we really will find out alot about our side.

Grimes is our only player missing from our best 22 which means if we lose, it is because we are not good enough and there really shouldnt be any "what ifs"

EEEk i just peed a little with excitement.

Come on you bloody Tiges :footy:

So we go in with little Maric on the bench...i like it. IMO, in his cameo last week showed that he has listened and learnt and the goal sneak that we have lacked is now back in the fray. We might have to worry about Milne, but little Maric might be the spanner in the works for the aints. ;)

Go Tige's!

I was at the St Kilda v Carlton game, and the Blues made the mistake of not matching up Saad and Milera adequately (both are speedy & can kick goals). And Milne, another small forward kicked 4 against us last time.

While on the plus side for us, McEvoy and Fisher who were in their top 5 last time we met are out with injury.

Like everyone else I'm excited and a little nervous heading into this game!

Go Tigers! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Met a bloke who worked for the Saints at a wedding the night of the dreamtime game. Was a bit the worse for wear by that stage :D but we had a bit of a chat about the Tigers and he was very impressed even then. You an bet you're bottom dollar they're not taking this game lightly.

Should've asked what your handle was - you about mate? :)

Have watched a lot of tigers games in my 41 years, and I've never, ever, ever, been more nervous before a game in my life.

I actually think it's nervousness over what a win would mean. I think then I would be 100% certain the dark days of the last 30 years are behind us, and for the minute my head can't quite compute that.

C'mon tiges.

You are not alone mate.

Good luck tonight Tiges - hope you belt the Saints the same way you did us last week!

Any suggestions for affordable car parking in the area around Etihad? I usually park down near Harbour Town in one of the $10 car parks, but am not overly confident there will be anything left when I arrive (probably around 6.45). Would just like a reasonably reliable backup option if anyone can suggest anything.

Cheers.

Pumped. Go Tigers!

Looks like we're all nervous about tonight, even Dimma has said that the guys are playing on fear of failure. I wonder how berserk the media would be if we could get the win tonight...

Just under 8 hours to go! Go tiges!

Points:
• Don't get caught up in the media hype as it will only get us off our game
• Don't underestimate the opposition, once we undermine them we'll lose
• Our midfield needs to keep up the good work
• Our backline needs to work in tandem and communicate as much as possible
• Our spread needs to be quicker and more efficient
• We need to rebound well and make the most of our opportunities

Trying to look at this game in isolation (one week at a time :) ) to keep my nerves in check.

We're playing a team thats coming back into form, we haven't beaten them for 8 years, it's at their home ground, and there is every chance our young list might have succumbed to the hype (even a bit) and gotten ahead of themselves and/or struggle with the pressure.

I wont be happy with anything short of a win, but knowing it's 'only' a 50/50 game, I wont be too upset with an 'honourable loss'.
