I have jumped on his bandwagon after watching him at training today.... ultra impressive and the type of running half back/med defender that will play a heap of AFL next season!!

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

Cant wait to see this bloke in 2 weeks. I think he may slot straight into our 22. Anyone have any updates on how he has been traveling in the preseason. Its impossible to get a read on the boys this year. I guess its good for reducing expectations on players but keeping the hype about the club moving forward.

He’s been very impressive,’’ Hird said.
"He’ll play tomorrow night, we haven’t finalised the first or second game, but he’ll definitely play in one of those games.

Fairly standard.

He has a fantastic left foot on him, reads the ball very well.
"It’s only early, we’ve only had him for three months - or two months - but we’re very hopeful, and we have an expectation, that he’ll be a very good senior player for the Essendon football club over the next six, seven years.’’

However he wouldn't just say this for the sake of it. If we've found ourself a Greg Broughton, I'd be stoked.

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

Correct me if I have it wrong, but it looks like MH is ineligible for the NAB rising Star by a paltry 2 days. That sucks. But anyway, sounds promising and cant wait to see him play.

EDIT: I am wrong, He turned 21 on Jan 3, whic means he is eligible by 2 days.

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

Prob won't play round 1 but is another 'ready made' player that could slot straight into our back 50 when required.

Very handy 'recruit' for Bendigo as well :)

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

Very good tonight, looks ready for Round 1 no doubt.

May have looked good on the box but being at the game you could see he got caught out with how quick Collingwood turned defense into attack and was 20 meters from his man.
This happened a number of times and really hurt in the second quarter. Did a lot of good things which was good.

Hey ant i was at the game also and saw this. I thought his efforts tonight were still much improved on last week.

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

I reckon he's looked a bit out of his depth a times during the whole NAB Cup. Lost count at the number of times he's kicked out on the full, albeit under pressure but im line ball as to whether they throw him to the wolves and play Rd1 or let him work on a few things at Bendigo. Lack of alternatives is in his favour.

I agree. His kicking last night was very average - kicked a couple along the ground & another couple kicks were turnovers. I'm pretty sure his kicking was much better in previous games.

I still think he should be in the team for round one. He's been solid in other games.

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

Solid debut for Hibbo today, looks like he could be another very handy half back type..

Interesting to see if he can his spot in the side with so many players to come back.

He looked good in patches and his overhead marking is really good which, as a mid size back, is very handy. Not convinced he'll keep his spot long term but hope he does.

Re: 43- Michael Hibberd

Yeah ken oath. I posted that in another thread but I'll put it here for prosperity.

How ****ing good was Hibberd's effort in that 1-on-1 with Johnson in the 2nd quarter I think it was. Johnson had the sit and Hibberd worked his way back to spoil without giving away a front on contact free kick, tackled Johnson then cleared the ball. 3 kicks later we score a goal. Epic, epic effort that turned a sure goal to Geelong into a goal for us.
