Say it ain't so. For sure the golden age of hip hop has passed, but there have been some good releases in recent times.

Have a listen to Brother Ali's 'Shadows on the Sun', Louis Logic's 'Sin a Matic', Viktor Vaughn's 'Vaudeville Villain'or 'Madvillainy'. Not a touch on yer classic rap (except for maybe Madvillainy) but all top notch releases nonetheless. And what about the Def Jux stuff (cold vein, labor days, fantastic damage, i phantom, deadringer).

Plus you gotta love the fact that SHE has come to Australia and let us dudes do H.E.R. :)

A few of us did H.E.R. in a park ;)

My vote goes to Gangstarr, the most consistent group ever.

KRS-1 gets my vote

Dre must have wanted some cash cos him being boys with Eminem just ain't right i tells ya.

Have to agree Chuck D. I still get chills when I listen to "It takes a nation of Millions" followed by KRSONE.

Next is Daylight.

Been listening to a lot of Oz HipHop and I like BIAS B from Melbourne.

It all comes down to personal opinion, but Tupac deffinately had the best lyrics. Grandmaster flash, ezy-e et al had massive influences on the whole rap scene on the first place, so maybe them? I dunno depends what the #1 is specifically referring to

Yo, hot damn, Doc a jam like a summer show
I keep my car looking like a crash dummy drove
My gear look like the bank got my money froze
For dead presidents I pimp like Huddy roll
Doc the one that excite ya divas (ow!)
If the media shine
I'm shining with both of the sleeves up
Yo Christina, better hop in here
My block live and in color, like Rodman hair (yeah)
The club is packed, the bar is filled
I'm waiting for sister to act, like Lauryn Hill
Frankly, it's a rap, no bargain deals
I drive a four wheel ride with foreign wheels
Throw it up
Baby it's brick city, you heard of that
We blessed, and hung low, like Bernie Mac
Dogs, let 'em out, women, let 'em in
It's like I'm ODB, the way I'm freaking

Redman!!!!!
