To be released Early May.

About time too.

Hopefully the good people at JJJ will givem Album of the week status. There is only so much Grates/Hilltop/Herd one person can take.

Will be the album of the year/decade and as my good friend Jimmy Pineapple would say "Case..effing closed":thumbsu:

official release date is 2 May 2006.
first single vicarious to be released 17 April 2006.

tracklist
Vicarious
Jambi
Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
The Pot
Lipan Conjuring
Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)
Rosetta Stoned
Intension
Right In Two
Viginti Tres

there are a fair few people over at TDN who think the title and track lists r fake and the real title will be known just before release date, similar to lateralus.

incidently jb hifi has the release date of 10,000 days as being 28 April. Aussies will be some of the first in the world to get their hands on an official copy of the album because of the date line. :D

1. Will you be camping out for it?

2. Is my username too lame to be hanging out in this thread?

Be honest.

I also found that hmv.com.au has no listing of this new album and release date, Could have soemthing to do with the titles? On triple JJJ they said the official aussie release date was may 6th.

Tool, such an overrated band.
Dude, you're taking the pi$$, surely you are??....! only someone that has no musical ear or appreciation for musicianship of the highest order would come out with that.

So what exactly is over rated???

Is it Danny Carey Drumming? Perhaps you should take a closer listen and understand there are very few percussionists that can pull pull off the sorts of beats and timing that this man can produce.

Is it Maynards voice or lyrical content? Yep he sings about all those boring non important issues, and his vocal melody is crap.

Adam Jones' guitar riffs and sounds. The man is a Scifi genius and somehow transfers this into the sounds he pulls out of his guitar. His off time riffs are pretty crap and those 11 minutes masterpeices are just over rated???

This is quite possibly one of the most important bands of our time. They have set a benchmark very few have been able to reach, they are reveered for their artistic merit and boundless creativity. Which is more than we can say about the state of punk rock...

It's no worse than mine, and I will fight anyone who wishes to remove me from a Tool thread.

Can't wait for this album, and yes, the track list looks like a p1ss take.

oooh harsh...

now onto Tool:
The drumming is nothing special, pretty generic sounding to me.

Maynard is a pretentious ********. People who think they are all smart and deep just eat that stuff up though. No doubt the names of their songs will be some ********y bull******** and their videos will look like they were made by some 15 year old stoner in media studies class.

Now the guitar, tune down to D, buy a chorus pedal, repeat ad nauseum. I don't get why people think that's so amazing, and how they've gotten away with playing the same slowed-down quicksand riff for like a zillion songs/records/years.

Pretty much the only people who ride Tool's nuts were in highschool 5-6 years ago, had dreadlocks, dubious facial hair and an eyebrow piercing....

Crikey. I've read some doosies on here before, but that is in a class of its own.

Fair enough you dont like Tool's tunes. Each to their own.

But I'm baffled as to what aspect of Danny Carey's drumming you find in the slightest bit generic? Most drummers i know as well as countless others who's opinions i've read find him incredible. In fact if you spend any time at all reading the various drumming publications or web sites he is comfortably rated amongst the absolute best of his generation. But what would they know?

I tell ya you must be listenign to some freaking amazing players to rag on Danny Carey. In fact you would enrich my life unbelievably by naming 5 other drummers playing in bands today that can touch him for technique, ideas, application and in particular his drum sound which would be as far away from generic as anything about Tool. His awesome use of electronics in particular to compliment his already amazing drum sound sets him well apart from most other drummers on the planet.

Again, who the hell are you listening to that i may have missed? I'm intrigued!

Its drumming, not particulary hard to get to a reasonable skill level.
By the way there is plenty of bands out there whose drumming can match the Tool guy...Now I don't know names because I simply don't take notice of the profession but I'll give you one, Josh Freese.

the track listings appear to be real and hence the title.
in a recent interview with Guitar World Adam Jones mentioned two tracks "lost keys" and rosetta".

TripleJ will be airing vicarious for the first time on australian radio at 9am on tuesday 18 April.
and a return of the Tool files on TripleJ very soon, the last two they did were sweet :D
And Tool have been confirmed as guest programmers on Rage the saturday night after the new album (May 6).

You're actually pretty correct there. Drums are quite easy to take up and get a feel for if you have any sense of rhythm, imagination or co-ordination. Sure, you'll have very little concept of the subtleties of the instrument, but you'll be able to hold a groove with a little time and effort.

But we're not talking about a "reasonable skill level" here, we're talking about the top echelon. But somehow i think i'm wasting my time trying to explain to someone like you the ability required to get to the mastery of a Danny Carey or so many other drummers who's gifts i think would be compeletly lost on you.

Going by what you've displayed so far, i really dont expect you to know the drummer's names, but give me 5 band names champ. Just 5. Shouldn't be that hard if there are "plenty", surely?

Clearly. You didnt need to say that for it to be blatantly obvious.

You really should just stop there tiger. You're really in danger of coming across as looking like an ignorant ******** who doesnt really understand what he/she's talking about.

Josh Freese.
I'm a huge fan of Josh Freese. He is a gifted, incredibly versatile and accomplished player. I've spent alot of time listening to much of his huge body of work. It's impossible not to admire his ability to walk in a lay down a drum track for the hundreds of sessions that he has and suit each one so perfectly, and usually with very limited preparation time. He really is to 90's and 00's alt-rock what Jeff Porcaro was to 70's and 80's contemporary rock/pop and what Vinnie Colaiuta has become.

But i'm curious what particular aspects of Josh's playing makes you think he's a more accomplished player than Danny Carey?

Can't wait for the new Tool album, nice B'day present :)

A wee bit too early for my birthday but it is an excellent way to waste that days wages, isn't it? :) I love Tool, I've got all the albums but Salival.

How so? I dont believe im jumping up and down like some newjack or some drum nerd over one persons opinion like everyone else is.
You just keep raising the bar for yourself don't ya champ?

Funny, i thought these chat site things revolved around peopel discussing other people's opinions? No need to get all defensive about it.

Its a terrible sign when you have to resort to that kind of stuff. Usually a strong inidication that you have nothing intelligent to add by virtue of the fact that you really have no idea what you're talking about.
