A name synonymous with the Geelong Football Club. But also for nearly a century supporting Geelong as a major employer.
"Believed" to be the longest sporting sponsorship in the world. I am yet to read about any other continuous sponsorship that beats Ford / Geelong.

Bayer pharmaceuticals and Leverkusen.
Phillips Electronics and PSV Eindhoven.
Fiat and Juventus.

All longer if I'm not mistaken.
Certainly the longest in Australia.

Phillips and PSV is the same company
The “P” in PSV is Phillips lol

Should immediately disqualify them…

The others are similar…Geelong and Ford are independent of each other.
Don’t know how that hasn’t been made a distinction.

Correct, but with asterisks. Leverkusen and PSV were both founded and owned by said companies. Fiat and Juventus were both owned/controlled by the Agnelli family.
Geelong can at least claim longest sponsorship from a completely independent entity.

Bayer pharmaceuticals and Leverkusen.

Bayer is awesome!

Are we having a special game or commemorative jumper to acknowledge this milestone?

Nice to have something like a cavalcade of ford vehicles from each decade or something
Maybe with the cats jumper of the era on the screens as they go around

To commemorate the Ford Ranger Raptor, everyone is going to drive at 113 km/h at a three metre distance bumper-to-bumper all the way to the ground.

Prior to guernsey sponsorships in 1978, what was the nature of the sponsorship for 50 years?
There was the Murray’s Menswear scoreboard, I recall. I still have a matching beige outfit of slacks, cardigan and loafers of theirs. It made me look like Dennis Marshall.

Cotton-On before Cotton-On ;)

Would be employment and the odd car you'd think

The fact they rolled out this crap for the uneventful 85 year anniversary, makes one hope the club and Ford Australia have something decent planned.

Enjoyed the $2000 off a new Everest last year as a member, never ever thought I'd enjoy this member perk, especially as having never bought a brand new vehicle before, and swearing I'd never look at Ford after what happend last decade.

Fortuntely for them the NextGen Ranger & Everest platform, despite made in Thailand (and for some markets South Africa), they're a winning set of options for where Australia is at today.

I think the small Ford 100 logo on the member's scarf this year is a nice touch though.

As expected they've done a guernsey, I think they could've been more creative. That said, it's a nice little collective for such a milestone for the club and the city (despite the end of the era last decade)

No short-sleeve youth version though, bloody weird.

I’m not sure I’d be celebrating anything connected to the USA at this point in time but maybe that’s just me.
Really? I definitely think it's just you. Ford Australia came about thanks to Ford Canada, and despite the history tracing back to the American Henry Ford, until its demise last decade the Ford brand as a product and as an employer became as synonymous as Vegemite (before it too landed in foreign ownership) in this country.

It's a great thing to have had that brand start its local roots in Geelong, and for the club to be sponsored for a century, even after manufacturing left here.

If you have political issues that are so thinly veiled with America, this Big Footy forums isn't the place for it, at least not one for a club, there are other sub-forums I am sure it can be discussed in.
