It's time to admit that GWS knew what they were doing playing Taranto forward.

He is too slow to play in the centre full-time. He doesn't have the power and speed to get the required separation from his opponent. You can get by playing him there against teams with a slower midfield, but many midfield groups (like Collingwood and Port Adelaide's) are too quick for him.

For now, we obviously have no other choice but to play him inside full-time because our younger midfielders aren't ready yet. However, we should transition him into the forward line within the next two seasons depending on how our young midfielders are going IMO
Amen.
Been saying it for 18 months.
He's actually dangerous and clever around goal, but a liability most everywhere else.

At this stage the cupboard is pretty bare for mids that can do the heavy lifting but as the next gen come through and can handle the centre square combat, I reckon we will see TT pushed forward.

Some of you campaigners need a brain check

He’s playing in the bottom side of the comp. He’s not Jesus Christ
I think people were rightly upset with how little pressure he applied. Like when that port player got a handball out, and Taranto already conceded that they were going to kick a goal. Hopefully just a bad game, but it's not a great example for the kids as a leader to not apply any pressure. Taranto is lauded for his two way running, but often it feels like it is to no effect, where he will be 5 or 10m behind the ball carrier and let them run by. That's what it seemed like against Port anyway. Hopefully just a bad game and he is able to show more leadership in the future. Had a great year in 2023, and played well against Carlton before a poor perforance against Port

Yze says Taranto is in our top 1 or 2 most important players.

You want to trade a guy your coach thinks is in our top 2 players?
Coaches will defend their players to the hilt.
He is not in our top 2 most important players.

And even if some thought he was our midfield is the worst in the competition, it's not saying much.

He got done on a play. Not the first won’t be the last.

The whole team is growing. TT isn't going to change what happened on the weekend, watching that game alot of dump kicks due to lack of spread when we did get the ball. He's not been great this season so far, but I can't expect 1 player alone to raise the bar. With continued development of the team, you will see a marked improvement from TT.

He'll come out breathing fire surely this week.
He could've had a niggle, flu anything. He looked pretty flat and uncreative. Not his usual self.
yeah but he had a bad game and we have to sink the boot in, we have to.

it's not that he had a bad game; its that the way he plays is negative and does not impact the game.

We love bashing low hanging fruit but give a free pass to established players, I just don't get that.
I dont mind as long as its consistent, are the same bashers here celebrating good games? Not likely.

we should all celebrate good games and players, no one wants to see players playing bad, id love TT to be a great mid, but he isn't and neither is hopper. they're too slow, not good enough with disposal and the most important thing is that they're not creative..

We should take the rose colours glasses off.

I think he is tradable at the end of season
While hopper is damaged goods no team would take him on
GWS didn’t fight real hard to keep them that says somethinge

They had Coniglio, Whitfield, Greene, Haynes on $million a year.
Now Taylor, Callaghan

Taranto won our B&F didn't he?

2023 with a decent Lynch replacement on the list (JVR) might've saved that season.

All the campaigners here demanding Taranto be traded is doing my head in. Once Prestia goes at the end of the season and MacIntosh follows suit, this will subsequently leave Taranto as the senior midfielder at the club. Do you guys really want a midfield mix of: Hopper, Ross, Dow, McAuliffe until the draftees develop? I'd much prefer Taranto to continue to play in the guts than someone like Dow or Ross who are outside players who should play second fiddle at the most. To accomplish a rebuild, the club needs experienced leaders like Taranto to guide the development of the cubs. Last week was a poor showing (most of the team had a game to forget), yet Taranto will be a fixture of the club for years to come, putting in the hard yards to ensure the draftees can shine.

I understand your point, but Tarranto is not a leader, he cant use the footy very well and his play is not inspirational.

If you get the ball 30 times and turn it over 12 times you do next to nothing; it's nearly a zero impact.

If he was so special what did he do at the GWS ? what did he do in the grand final against us?

Most overrated player I've seen in a long time. The kids will surpass him in game impact very soon.

Can't play TT and Hopper in the same midfield set up full time. It's become evident the game has moved to a spread from contest. Both lack leg speed to be a modern midfielder.

I agree get him in the forward line, take Bauer out and bring in McCauliffe to rotate through the guts.
