I'm shocked! He had a great game but the thread is dead. However, when he is viewed to have been sub par by some, they are quick to sink the boots in.

I guess it might not be fun for people to praise the player, rather than ridicule.

Doesn't fit with the agenda as to why we are losing.

Still only went at 61% efficiency - agree our best by a mile on Monday - needs to clean up the kicking a heap to take his game to the next level. Shame that apart from Hopper his mates didnt show up on Monday to help.

I think too much of a focus is put on disposal efficiency. Without looking at the stats I can assure you Clayton Oliver probably went worse than Taranto did.

You're right, Clarry went at 61 as well. Just would be nice to clean it up a bit, even if its around the 70 mark where more than 2/3 of his touches are good/damaging would take him to the next level.

Im confident he can get there, with more experience with the players around him and playing in big games

Also need to remember Taranto very rarely kicks the ball when he is in space

He generally has one or two blokes hanging off him after he wins it on the inside and throwing it on the boot is the only option

Definitely affects his DE %

Oliver went at 61%, don't see anyone complaining. Cripps went at 59%.

Checked the stats to see how he was going about halfway into the 2Q (the point to which we'd dominated scoring) and he had twice as many contested possessions, twice as many clearances and twice as many tackles as anyone else on the ground (and nobody was doing half as well on all three).

The man's thriving at Tigerland and he's just getting started.

Coaches' votes, R6: Taranto’s terrific form

Melbourne v Richmond

9 Tim Taranto (RICH)
6 Jack Viney (MELB)
4 Michael Hibberd (MELB)
3 Jack Riewoldt (RICH)
3 Max Gawn (MELB)
2 Clayton Oliver (MELB)
2 Jayden Short (RICH)
1 Christian Petracca (MELB)

Lets just think about this for a minute
  • Taranto is averaging over 30 touches a game with 4 more than his 2019 B & F year at the giants
  • Taranto is averaging 8 tackles 1.5 more than his B & F year
*Taranto's DE is 61.3% this year and in his B & F year was 59.3%

If Taranto averaged 6% -7% better DE and kicked just 1 goal a game
We certainly would not be paying him $700k a year it would be more like $1 mil plus

Taranto is 100% leading our B & F

What more do people expect the man is a gun player
