2009 season
Selected with the club’s second pick (29 overall) in the 2008 AFL draft, Dayne Beams surpassed first-year expectations with the 19-year-old contributing 18 senior games including two finals matches.

While much of the talk revolved around the youngster’s tattoos before the season commenced, chatter soon turned quickly to his on-field ability.

He burst on the scene with 18-possessions, six tackles and one goal in the win over Melbourne in round two and played the following five out of six matches before taking a brief spell in the VFL to finally see out the rest of the year in the seniors.

He averaged 17.7 disposals at the AFL level and used the ball with 76.7% efficiency. Nominated for the AFL Rising Star award in round 17, the Gold Coast-native has signed on as a Magpie until 2012 causing many supporters to invest in number 17 on the back of their guernsey.

WATCHING Dayne Beams in his debut AFL season, one might have wondered just how much there was for the Collingwood midfielder to work on this summer.

In a year in which the teenager played 18 senior matches and also picked up a NAB Rising Star nomination, he looked a hardened, ready-made player.

Some highlights of Beamsy's debut season 2009. Note his attack on the ball at about 0.39. Even a seasoned campaigner in Darren Milburn respected the kids disregard for his own welfare.

I think we will be seeing alot more of this in seasons to come.

Club is AFL now though, rejected earlier as he wanted to be in an AFL system. Hes established himself and has a premiership. Time to go home?

If it was an actual trade scenario, there is no way we'd take Hine and a 2nd rounder...And even if he did want to leave, we'd still ask for more than that.

Just because Beamsy is out of the team doesn't mean he wants to leave or that we don't want him. :)

Although if it carries on for much longer...:(

Beams is a gun make no mistake. Forward or midfield. While we are in our window it would be absolute insanity to get rid of Beams. The only way I can concieve that we would lose him was due to salary cap pressure but Walsh is a very shrewd operator and seems to have this under control right now. If - and it is a big if - we were to find ourselves in that scenario I think trading to you guys for a quality young player might be the best option. But personally I think that has little chance of occuring.

I would not have thought he is worth a top 10 pick. Anyway he wont leave, was just seeing what pies fans would want for him.

And he provided you with it. I'd also imagine that 99% of Collingwood supporters would answer that way.

You not believing he's worth that much has no bearing on the answer to your question whatsoever :thumbsu:
