Player Watch #18: Alex Rance

Let's play the hypothetical that Rance is returning, it won't be this season as he hasn't been in the approved AFL COVID bubble

He can only return to play when the new draftee's are allowed in - via some sort of quarantine I imagine.

That, and the players movements in the off season will give the AFL some grey hairs.

Don't be surprised if the players have to hotel quarantine before pre season or are kept until 'stage 4' style restrictions in their time off

Hardwick said a couple of players are heading up on the plane next week to Queensland one being Shedda

just imagining if its not just one tiger on the plane...

HEY SHEDDA I SAVED YOU A SEAT

Might cause a slight ripple in the time space continuum at tigerland.

Any more word/rumours on whether Rance is considering a come back next year?

what about we put Balta back into the ruck? Wouldnt that be better?

Well Balta can just be in the ruck without rucking to protect him just being a nuisance. We could play Balta as one of two ruck rovers and than he defaults to half back with Rancey full back.

With Balta, Rancey would not need to carry a lot of load so the pressures and imbalances of footy might not be as much with Balta there so Rance can be happier, play longer and find time to pursue other things as well

Having ruck spread with Balta is so much fun with his speed and getting on the end of a 70 metre punt inti the forward line

Imagine Balta with Bolton in the middle on the spread, talk about a lethal combo

A hypothetical...

Let's say the 2019 season was covid impacted like 2020 has been.

Rance plays the opener in round 1 v Carlton, and falls to the ground with his broken knee in front of his team mates, opponents and a few groundstaff and media. A few days later the season is shut down and does not resume until June. Rance pushes on with his re-hab, doing everything that got him in a position to consider returning even as late as August in the real 2019. But the hypothetical 2019 has the season pushed out by a month, and with shortened matches... so would Rance have pushed further with his re-hab, maybe have joined the hub camp with Edwards, Ablett and Hannebery and have made it back for the October finals?

Yes, as far as I'm conserned, he was nearly ok to go. He knee had recovered enough for him to play

trading day foxfooty/kayo is saying Rance is doing a bit of work down Geelong...(not sure what capacity)... they're asking can the Pussies lure him out of retirement...1h 07 min in the show

Well he is in their most favoured age quartile for new recruits - if it were not for the Draft rules, Geelong would probably have players on the Aged Pensionas well!

Doesn't he have a campus for his academy there? Is it related to the footy club or the suburb??
