Non-contact for another week but otherwise has a full training load.

ā€œHurls had a shoulder reconstruction and he’s really at the end of his rehabilitation phase. He’s been training essentially fully with the group except for contact,ā€ Rundle said on Tuesday.

ā€œHe’s at the end of his contact progressions now and should be integrating fully with the group within the next week or so.ā€

And back in the leadership group too.

You're talking about 0.8 kicks per hundred, or 0.2 compared to Gleeson. To you this might be a major issue. To everybody else however, Hurley's field kicking is fine.
Just so you know I'm in tears here. Some fine work you've done in the last few posts.

Every, I dunno, 5 games, Hurley has one less effective disposal than Hibberd.

Delist.

It's funny, so many want AA status granted to their own players, but those same players have such huge issues with a number of inclusions each year.

Desperately wanting their player to make a team that in the same breath they think is an over rated achievement based on rubbish selections.

the fact that Hurley can kick off both feet and Hibberd is one of the most one sided players in the AFL makes any comparison between those two in particular laughable to say the least.

DE stats aside.

Club Doctor Bruce Reid said his shoulder had also caused some problems.

ā€œHe has had two sub-luxation’s of his shoulder so he is having reconstructive surgery,ā€ he said.

ā€œThe type of surgery that he’ll be having is similar to David Myers and they make a full recovery in 12-14 weeks.ā€

Given that timeframe, Hurley will be able to participate in running drills when pre-season starts in November, but he may need to wait an extra couple of weeks to begin full weight training.

To sum it up - Hurley is an excellent long kick on both feet and actually close to the elite level, whereas his short kicking is inconsistent - Hibberd is a reliable kick, but below AFL standard in handballing.

FFS If they knew they were going the surgery path (they should have already known), why the **** was he not put on ice 6 weeks ago?
****
Would you want to be the one who tells Mick "We know you're still right to play but we're going to put you in for surgery anyway"?

Absolutely I would. Don't care what his response would be, too important for us to risk with any less than a full pre season.

So "the inquirer" on the AFL website suggests Hurley isn't even in the top 3 key defenders in the comp.

Bollocks I say

I wouldn't pay much weight to it. There's no transparency on their "formula" or even qualitative explanations at the least. Most stats show Huley as equal to or better than Rance and others.

It's more a product of Hurley missing more games than those other three. Over the past two seasons he's ranked the third best KPB behind Rance and Taylor.
