A few years back the AFL commisioned "replicas" to be made for all clubs that had won flags from 1897 to 1958 as the first premiership cup issued was in 1959. Eddie couldnt stomach the fact that they had the same amount of premiership cups in their trophy cabinet as Footscray and St Kilda - 1.

C2004 - I also have a half memory that the 1972 Cup was stolen - I was going to include the episode in the Carlton Information Kiosk. Even so, it does not matter what combination of words you punch into Google, nothing comes up.
Please let me know if you find something.

The reason I ask is cause i found this on a friends facebook page. The replicas you can buy are only small.
One of the premiership cups from around that time was stolen and the club didn't get it back until 1994. Somebody who had it, contacted Eddie Mcguire and in the end it was handed back to us on an episode of The Footy show.

So do you rekon its a replica?
I know that the club had a replacement for the actual trophy made and that's why there used to be two 1972 premiership trophies in the clubs trophy cabinet. Which is the replica is something I wouldn't be able to tell you and I am not sure anybody on here could tell you which is the replica.
