I've seen us snatch defeat from the jaws of victory more than a few times over the years, and I reckon i've now worked out my euphoria level. That time in the match when I can start soaking up the euphoria of a win while the game is still being played. For me, it happens once we are two goals up for every minute of the game remaining e.g if there are 4 minutes to go and we are 8 goals up, I can relax and enjoy the final minutes of the game. Of course, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy us being 5 goals up half way through the last, its just that I can't really enjoy the prospect of victory until we hit the two goals/minute remaining equation.

What stage do others kick back and start wallowing inthe euphoria of a win?

Depends on the momentum and stuff, no set formula. Was when we got out to a 35 or 36 point lead in this game though. Although, when Mayne kicked that goal to get it back to I think it was 24 points they were very flat and I thought they'd given up, so I was pretty confident at that stage.

:)

I'm with you crumden.

I think I went out and happily told the wife we were about 40 points up with about 4 minutes to play.

I know we should always be wary when Richmond have a lead but as soon as we kicked the first goal I had a feeling we were winning that game- never in doubt for mine throughout

edit: Post was in reference to Freo game- normally I'm quite wary and the rule is about 5 goals with 5 minutes for me

Lol. Know the feeling. I set a score in my head about halfway through third. Say on Saturday 125. I thought we will get 125 at that point freo may have been about 70 so in my mind needed about 9 goals still not entirely comfortable. Once we got to about 110 and they were languishing I felt safe

If we are first to 100 points to a game and have a 3 goal lead thats usually enough IMHO. It means its late in the game and we have enough lead to play out time if need be. Anything under 100 points requires atleast a 6 or 7 goal lead for me to feel comfortable.

On Saturday we were 5 goals up with plenty of time left. I turned to my mate and said 'This is not over' and he agreed. They kicked the next to take it to 24 points and then we kicked the next to take it back to 30 points not long after. I turned to him again and 'It's over now'.
And then I started high fiving old ladies in the row in front of me.:o

I felt quite comfortable when we were about 30 points up.

I think this year, with the new sub rule, if you're in front by a decent margin at the start of the 4th, then the opposition is going to really struggle to come back. Players are more fatigued and the sub isn't exactly having a game changing impact.

Once you're gone you're gone IMO (this year). That's why I was very surprised GCS came back against Port.

But if you're Richmond's opposition you just never know. ;)
