I have been able to gain from a very reliable source a little bit of info on our draw for next season. We have six game's in Melbourne next season, a Rnd 15 clash with Hawthorn at York Park in Launceston, our Melbourne games are spread out over the year. Also our Showdowns have been brought forward to Rnd 3 and 18, we are only having two Saturday games and more Saturday night games. From what I have been told we have a very fair draw next year and havent been r*ped like we were this year ;)

Happy about more night games.

Triggy didn't sound too happy about us having to play our R22 game at Subiaco yet again - think that is now 3 in 5 years.

Seems pretty close. Thanks mate.

PS: I may go for Port, but I have a soft-spot for the Crows :)

I'm not happy either...There is only 1 game over here and I have to wait all year...at least I can cheer the boys into the finals

Yes 3 games round 22 since 2000

If everyone is on the money here, we play West Coast at home in Round 1 and our only game in Perth is in Round 22?If we play West Coast at home first up, shouldn't we play them away in about Round 16?

Unlikely... you have played their in 1998 (twice), 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Only 2000 did you miss.
Yeah I know, I've had a pretty good run of seeing the Crows up here in recent years.

BUT

We only played Sydney once this year. So there's a good chance of the Crows playing the Swans both at home and away in 2005.

And with the way the AFL likes to schedule lots of Victorian derbies, there's always the greater likelihood of return games between non-Victorian sides.

Didn't take that into account. Well... I'd say it would be 75:25 you are playing in Sydney then ;)

I suppose you are hoping 100:0 :D

Playing round 22 at Subiaco for the 3rd time in 5 years is a shocker. The VFL sure look after their Melbourne based clubs.

When the return matches come around they seem to mix them up a little bit. I noticed this year when we had played everyone we were meant to play the Kangaroos as we played them first but we played Brisbane instead and obviously got flogged and then played that shocking game against the Kangas the week after and got up.
Not sure how long they have been doing it for I only noticed it this year.

I cant understand why we are playing W/Coast in Rnd 22, I thought after all the travel we went through at the end of 2002 season and then playing finals was the reason we had a Showdown in Rnd 22, they have been brought forward so yes I think we have been hard done by in that respect :(

Let's just hope our draw is more win-friendly in 2005 (as it should be for a a 12th-placed team). We had the toughest draw in the AFL this year, which doesn't excuse winning only 8 games, but goes a long way to explaining it.

Also my understanding is that we play our first game at home againt West Coast and most likely Tyson Stenglein;)

Even better is the fact that there will be a great matchup to watch.

Tyson Stenglein vs Beau Waters. :p

And good to see we have a fairer draw next year, especially considering I expect us to (slightly) improve in 2005. All is well then.

Doesn't sound too bad, except for the usual bollixing trip to Perf in rd22. I'll reserve my judgement however until the draw is officially released.

because Collingwood "need" a home game in R22 just in case they have to play in the finals the following week :D

but we may as well have this away game in 2005 when we're unlikely to challenge for the premiership - as long as they make up for it in future years

One of the problems West Coast and Fremantle had was the hype and adrenaline that was used promoting and playing the local Derbies apparently took the focus of their finals preparation. That was why this year the local Derby was played a round earlier.

I think like Port u guys have reason to be disappointed

West Coast away last round is tuff - esp if u play finals - Which i dont think you will (not trying to have a dig) but if u do its a big disadvantage particularly if u have to travel again the following week..

I see u def winninng the following rds
5 6 10 14 18 19 21

Good chance in the following
1 2 3 5 11 13 15

Struggle in following
4 7 8 9 12 20 22

If u win half of the ones ur a good chance in and sneak a cuple unlikely ones i think upon reflection u could sneak in to the eight
but a tuff draw for u

Very disappointed in having the round 22 clash at subiaco, obviously the AFL doesn't expect us to make the finals anyway.

Imagine having to travel to Perth twice in 2 weeks, Round 22, then say fremantle at Subiaco in a elimation final the following week.
