If anyone cares to review the 2005 draft it's quite clear that apart from a few standouts in thomas , murphy and Pendlebury the balance was a cast of bums that will indeed struggle to reach any great heights. In this context , it's no suprise that JON is struggling as the vast majority of his contemporaries are are in a similar fight for survival.

Take a look to see that outside of top 5, there are probably 3 or 4 decent players of out of the next 30

Shaun Higgins, Grant Birchall, Rhan Hooper, Andrew Swallow, Clint Bartram, Matty Stokes, Sam Gilbert.

Don't discount: Beau Muston, Ben McKinnley, Nick Lower, Trent West, Robert Warnock or Jason Porplyzia.

Then we may be able to consider: Jace Bode, Ed Lower, Todd Grima, Matt Priddis and Kieran Jack.

is this the kid from the roos? If so, IMO one of the real good ones. ;)

%^$#$, i $%#@ed up, that 5 from 30:o...in any case i wouldnt get carried away with varcoe and hooper just yet
they were just a few off the top of my head without going through the list, sure it wasnt the best draft but not the wirst either

All in all a very shallow draft indeed.

Apart from Murphy, there was very little talk of Thomas until his four goal fling in the GF and Pendlebury was a complete surprise to just about everyone except the recruiters from Collingwood, Essendon, West Coast and Brisbane.

stokes at 61 is a great pickup and patfull at 56 has started fitting in well to brisbane's backline.

isnt that why you have recruiting officers?

so that they can atleast find some good amongst the big pile of shit, look at the next 10 after jon all have showed a bit some more than others

even at the casserly pick, the kid looks to have good skills but did we need a flanker?

warnock or carlile would of been handy to add to our ruck/key defensive posts which are very thin atm
