2005 Draft

We had a good draft. We picked up some decent players, but we had a few decent top picks as well

Ellis will be a very decent player, worthy of pick 3
Dowler is a gun, Too bad he's stuck at Box hill, he wont dislodge the two top under 22 KPP's in the comp unless he shows some dominant form in the 2's

Muston/Bailey are also two of the better prospects in the comp, Bailey has done 2 ACL's as well as Muston, but both have talent to Burn

Birchall was being talked about as AA earlier in this season and is getting tagged, wonderful effort for a 20 year old

Tuck can play as well, he would be getting games for quite a few clubs.

But hell, 5 of them were top 25, and another one was F/S, so you would hope with picks like that you would do well.

in terms of the actual players each club got out of this draft, i think collingwood did the best with pendlebury and thomas etc. but if you factor in the fact that we used kennedy to get judd it probably tips the scales in carlton's favour.

Very good draft all round I'd say.

Think just about every club bar Sydney, Richmond, North Melbourne, Port and St Kilda would back in who they drafted as the best.

Well sometimes when your highest pick is 20odd, you're not going to unearth "gems." We were a victim of our own stupidity in trading those picks away, but getting Swallow and Riggio from that draft (+ Kasey Green) was not an awful return.
