Does anyone know if the rookies have been delisted or signed?
there has been roumors going around that bain will be delisted and wilson will be as well..anyone know anything???

Lovett and NLM have been promoted.

Wilson will be too old next year to be a rookie.
Given the others got promoted and he hasn't, that may be bad news for him.

Haven't heard anything on Bain/Jolley in regards to 2006, but I heard good reports on Jolley during the year.

Given there will be at least 3 spots free, and I think this is Bain's first year, he would probably be unlucky to be cut.

Jolley will be back , he showed a fair bit during the year. I would be surprised if Bain was back , played a lot of the year in the seconds.

jolley will be back.

i think bain will be given another year, pace and nice skills though someone likened him to another ben haynes which was a little off putting.

We'll keep Jolley and probably Bain too, I think. We have to delist Wilson as he hasn't been promoted and I doubt he will be. That will mean 3 more rookies in the Rookie Draft, as we'll probably keep Fletcher on the Veterans List.

Adrian's only 20 at the moment, 21 in November, so there is the possibility that he could go into the rookie draft and be picked up again. Remains to be seen whether they'll take another chance with him, but he would have got a senior game this year if that little early morning incident hadn't happened.

i'm not too sure why bain was playing seconds all year..i thought uz had a steal taking him in the rookie draft seeing he was 3rd vic metro best and fairest last year, TAC cup team of the year, and played pretty well in the 2's at bendigo..came fourth in the league best and fairest for the reserves didn't he?? interesting one, but i heard that jolley will be before him..was reading a report from the club and it stated that bain was a development player and are very happy with his progress, but there was definately talk that the club was going to delist him..not quite sure on it all..

for some of the games, he was only playing in the seconds because we had too many fit players! there had to be a minimum number of Bendigo based players in the VFL senior team (think it was 6), so some of the Essendon listed ended up in the seconds.

If he was good enough, he would have made the team though. But he would have been the youngest player there so there's plenty of time for him to show what he can do.

Pretty impressive personal achievements i guess, but none of this indicates that he will ever become a regular senior player, nor has his form. So i guess its time to give someone else an opportunity. Good luck to him for future indevours.

definately hope we keep bain for another year, didnt see much of him in the vfl or the bendigo 2's but was very impressive in TAC and should be given another year IMO

What was the "little morning incident"?

It would seem tough to be dropped after a single year when we have 3 rookie spots opening up regardless. You'd think he'd get at least 2. Unless the "little incident" is having an affect?

Wilson had the incident, not Bain. Bain had knee problems early in the year apparently, and I'd expect him and Jolley to be re-rookied.

The website says:
It was major shock when Bain wasn’t taken in the National Draft with a number of AFL clubs tempted to take the speedy wingman with their second picks. Bain comes to Essendon through the rookie draft, after being selected with the Bombers first pick at 11. Bain was recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers, as a midfielder with good pace and an ability to kick goals. He represented Vic Metro last year in the U18 Championships.

Mark Harvey says:
His practice games in reserves is suggesting that he could be a player that could fulfil expectations possibly quicker than we thought, and he has been the player in both games. He is a bit of an unknown quantity as he has only been playing football for a couple of years. Watch his progress.

The website says:
Wilson was first placed on the rookie list in 2003 and the hard and touch half-back flanker will be keen to impress in season 2005 as it poses to be a make or break year for his career. He is a very strong player and coach Kevin Sheedy likes the way he plays football.

Dean Wallis says:
Another player who has a make or break season in front of him. He had a great pre-season and got his body into the best shape it had been in a long time. He’s at the stage where he needs to get continuity in games for Bendigo and could play an important role in their season across the half back line.
