Change to priority picks
Starting next season if a club finishes with 16 points (four wins) or less in one year, a selection prior to round two of the national draft will be allocated and only after two or more years of 16 points or less will a selection prior to round one be granted.

This would see a club that finished on the bottom of the ladder with 16 points or less given picks 1, 17 and 18 in the first year and if it qualified for special assistance again the following year, picks 1, 2 and 18. The club would receive the first pick in the pre-season draft in both instances.

Previously a club was awarded a priority pick before the first round of the draft if it finished a season with 20 points or less.
The AFL wishes to advise the following key dates for various stages of the player exchange and draft process:

Nice work Cypher. :thumbsu:
It so bloody easy to loose track of these dates etc once the season has ended.
I will keep tabs from this thread from now on.

Wait, I am a bit confused by the "Starting next season" thing, if Carlton doesnt win another game this year (god forbid) will we get picks 1,2 and 18? Because we only won 4 games last year, or does that not have an affect yet???

As the current rules stand if we dont win any more games we will get a priority pick after the first round ie (Pick 17 or 18)

It's not 4 wins but 16 points. Think you'll find last year we only won 4 games, but had a draw giving us 18 points.
Once again evidence of the AFL kicking us while we are down and adding to our penalties by changing the rules mid stream.

 The AFL have hated us for a long time (thanks again JE!!), but we will survive .....just as long as we know how to ...... sorry , started singing there.
Would need to not win another game this season for a second round priority pick, and then 16 points or less next year for a first round priority....not something to aspire to.
