Out team easily. We were just a well oiled machine with every single position at the height of their powers. Taking nothing away from Geelong, but we were just awesome in every aspect imaginable. If Rioli hadnt have been injured, we wouldve been even more deadly.

Agree!!!

Geelong don't have the burning desire that was borne out of the 99 prelim debacle. Be surprised if any team wants a flag more than we did in 2000.

We'd win btw.

I also think we would win it. We were dominant from the start and despite the single loss we never really didn't look dominant.

But what other answer then that would you expect on the essendon board?

After Michael Long poleaxes Gary Ablett (try and tell me Sheedy wouldnt have him do it), it would be all down hill from there for the cats.

Long, Wallace, Hardwick, Solomon, Barnes, Moorcroft, Barnard... the 2000 premiership team would try to rough up the 2007 handbaggers. More than likely would succeed as well.

Essendon 2007 was beating them until Davey and Hird got injured and our season turned to crap.

i reli dont agree with this, i am sure they wuld try, but the cats would hold there own.

BUT

We have nothing watsoever on your 2000 side as yet neways, if we can go through the year like we are now and win a flag, maybs but yeh, i'd say you blokes that this point in time

Essendon 2000 by 5 goals at least. Cats are very good but we were great. Kegs is kidding himself.

We weren't beating them. They had our measure. That said we weren't disgraced that night, despite the final margain.

geelong's only weakness is their forward line. there is no way that mooney or n.ablett would kick enough goals for them to win

mooney is a good footballer in a great side, whilst n.ablett is a dud

geez you are pretty quick to call players duds.

I think he might turn out to be a pretty good player

mate its just that it annoys me when he gets a free ride becasue of his surname whilst other blokes work their butts off for nothing.

from my point of view he is slow, barely takes a contested mark and against the good defenders struggles to get a kick.

mate you put any forward in the league into geelong's side and they would get a goal a game at the moment.

you can't tell me he would get many touches playing for carlton or richmond

Err wat exactly am i kidding myself on? I said u would win. All i said is that you wuldnt bully us and we'd put up a fight. I also said we have nothing on your side in 2000. Dont no wat your on buddy!

Also Nablett is not a dud, although his output isnt fantastic atm i will agree. He will get better as time goes on, only his 3rd year i'm pretty sure, and takes a good defender every week.
I wouldnt call our forward line a weakness as we are the highest scoring team easily this year.
But i still believe the dons of 00 would account for us

I think since Stevey Johnson came back in Geelong's forward line has been pretty dam good and definitely not a weakness. He has been sensational. I said at the start of the year too that if Mooney pulled his head in and kept it together all year that Geelong would be very good indeed, and he certainly has got his act together. But just like our team in 2000, they have people chipping in everywhere.

You've got Gablett with 23 goals, Nablett with 24, S. Johnson with 31, Ling with 25, Mooney with 42 and quite a few between 10-20 I think.

I don't think Nablett is a dud either and think he has potential :thumbsu:

Having said that, Essendon 2000 comfortably because Geelong are very good but we were superhuman.
