Very good year for key defenders, considering Wood could play tall and Hooker played most of his footy down back (I know he pretty much has to be listed forward here for balance), you’ve got 5 All Australian key defenders and another who probably went close in Tarrant. Henderson was also a solid defender at his best, spent a lot of time forward for us though due to lack of targets.

Also a great draft year as far as rucks go. 4 very good ones there. Sadly injuries meant Kreuze never lived up to the number 1 billing but played very good footy whenever he got continuity.

On the key defenders but for an unfortunate series of injuries (bruised pancreas, navicular and some other freak stuff) Tayte Pears looked like he was gonna be a ripper too. I remember him running off Fev, taking bounces down the wing, could’ve been anything.

Yeah, he looked fantastic early on. Was already strong for a bloke without a heap of muscle on him and as you said, plenty of dash and dare for his height. Good disposal too if I recall correctly.

I would have Tex Walker higher l, but I'm biased as love the guy. He's still playing so could move up of he continues having seasons like this year.

Great drafting by the Crows.

Good development more accurately - Walker was pretty much the only success story of the short-lived NSW scholarship scheme; scouted at 16 and elevated onto the Crows list using their last pick of the draft. Other clubs didn't have access.
