Vanessa Amorosi's 'Start It' has been chosen by the Australian Football league (AFL) to be their theme song in 2008.

The 11 month campaign will catapult Vanessa across television sets around Australia as she moves towards releasing her new album 'Somewhere In The Real World'.

A video for the song was filmed recently at the hallowed grounds of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The footy gig is a good match for Vanessa. Her manager Ralph Carr is a board director for the Carlton Football Club. That may or may not create a conflict between Vanessa and Ralph. She is a Hawthorn Hawks supporter.

As previously reported in Undercover, Vanessa will also be the face of Calvin Klein Jeans in 2008. The jeans company will be using her song 'Perfect' for their television commercial. Vanessa is also expected to appear in the commercials.

I think the AFL stick to what they do best and that's football. I don't know who advices the AFL in it's music but they never get it right, ( look at the AFL grand Final). They should pay an artist to write and perform a real footy song. Not go back to Mike Brady but go with an upcoming Aussie band such as JoWeed.
