Stole this idea from the Brisbane board.

We have two people from Carlton making selections Gilly and HBF for the Eagles and Carlton respectively.

I will attempt to keep this updated, we can hurl abuse at HBF as well, if we don't like his selections :)

Anyway, HBF is next up, looking forward to your selection!

I rekon Hurley is exactly what we have always needed in the past 7 years which is a backman who can play on the monsters like richo, rocca, brown, pavlich or gehrig. These type of players have always belted us and with Hurley on board we would be able to push waite forward or move him back to give us more options and versatility.

That or Hurley can go forward himself ;)

Quigley took Ziebell with the Lions 7th pick, this was his description.

Jack Zeibell (DOB – 28/2/91, Ht – 188, Wt – 84)

Very powerfully built bottom aged player who should be a top 5 player this year. He is listed as a utility and is equally adept at HF, HB or in the middle. What you really notice is that whatever group he is with lifts when he is there and he makes those around him better. Long term I see him as being an inside midfielder but expect him to start up forward or down back depending on the needs of the team picking him. As he builds his endurance expect him to move into the middle full time and become that type of big bodied mid like Voss or Buckley that adds so much to midfield balance. He is a presence in the middle and has the knack of reading the ball off hands and being in the right place at the right time in contests. He is not a huge possession winner at the moment which I think is a factor of a lack of endurance and the fact that he plays at least half the game either up forward or down back. What sets him apart from virtually everyone is the quality of his disposal. He and Rich in my opinion are a class apart from anyone else available this year. He is a right footer with quick hands and exceptional vision and who works well under pressure. He is good overhead and can take a nice contested mark. He is good tackler and does the 1%ers that assist teammates. There has been a lot of talk about Sidebottom’s finish to the season but apart from the final the player who was the dominant player in the TAC in the latter stages of the year was Zeibell. I think a few are discounting him a bit because he didn’t appear in any of the top 10s at camp. Teams though always realised that he is not an elite runner (he is a power athlete) and will take him for what he can do on the park and the fact that these elite runners have had no ability to shut him down. Consider further that he is bottom aged and there is likely to be plenty of development in him yet. Those involved with him at the AIS are all big raps for him and think he is destined to captain whatever side he ends up at. Overall he is a class player who has a chance to be an elite player at AFL level and is the guy I will be praying falls to Brisbane come the real thing.

That's where i'd play him TBH.

And that is exactly where I would play him as well. IMO, he's too good a talent to play in defence, and would recruit and develop him as a CHF. Absolutely ecstatic he made it to our selection at #6.

Not only that, but for i think it would be more beneficial for us if he did play up forward because for me, our KB stocks are well equip for the future. Very much a presents up forward and would be a quality target in the future if he does in fact wear navy blue next year.

Okay say we draft Hurley as a forward, would he be more equipped to play that position than say Ziebell?

As Hurley is 4cm taller than Ziebell, i think he would provided a better target but i think they play very similarly up forward. Don't think Ziebell would be able to hold down a key post, more a 3rd tall, maybe 2nd if he continues to grow, remember he is still bottom-aged. Hurley could be a number 1 target playing forward, to me has the capability of being a 50+ a year goal kicker.

Both are capable of kicking bags of goals, arguably the best readers of the play in the draft and i just love that they'd do absolutely anything to get their hands on the footy, both tremendous competitors.

Pick 40 will be an interesting challenge for HBF...pick 65 may as well throw 20 names into a hat and hope you get lucky.

Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with at 40 :thumbsu:

Just out of interest Gilly, if you don't mind me asking, who are players number 39, 40 and 41 in your rankings?

ive have been reading alot about hurly, but a alot have a question marks on his pace... is it that bad guys (hbf, gilly n c23, whoever has seen him play)?

It sure will Gilly. I'm at least hoping a couple that I rate inside my top 30 fall through. Still, i'll be a very interested spectator in the PD until my next selection comes along.

I wouldn't get to worried over his leg speed. Having said that though, he is more suited to CHF/CHB as his speed off the mark isn't great, and he would get found out a little should he be played at FF/FB.

If he's as naturally talented as they say he is, he could develop as a backman on his own terms and if we ever needed him to play down there, he could make the switch.
