Re: Premiership Merchandise

Has anyone bought the premiership stamps? Mum picked them up for me today: http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2245/dscf0245copy.jpg (large image)
A friend of mine picked up the stamps the other day, mainly to go with the set they bought in their 2007 Premiership-induced-merchandise-madness-spree. :p

I missed out on the '07 ones, so didn't pick up this year's either. I'm weird like that. Haha.

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Debating whether or not to get the scarf, '07's hasn't really seen the light of day and rather than doubling up i'm thinking i might try and go for a wide and varying range of merch from '07 & '09 rather than getting sets aka being 'weird like that'.

Haha. I like being weird. Pre-2007 I never thought I'd ever own Premiership merchandise - so now the prospect of having multiples of the same thing is very exciting! :thumbsu:

With that in mind, I'm looking forward to hanging the 2009 scarf next to the 2007 scarf in my study. Hence my sadness about the lack of 2009 pennant. Still! Haha. :p

For anyone who's interested, this is what the beer cans look like:

$15.50 from Liquorland Bay City.

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Just seen the grand final dvd for this year in the shop and it shows that you can listen to the commentry through different stations. But this is the first yr that it shows no 3AW on it. Just wondering why that is and if you can get it somehow so you can watch it listening to 3AW? cheers

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Picked up 2 slabs for $75. Very good value; there are some 2007 ones on ebay (singular) going for $20 EACH. That's $480 per slab, and this is just two years on! Not that i'll be buying to sell, or anything...

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Just bought a couple of stubby holders and a blue t-shirt. Does everyone here have a preference of which shirt they like best?

Re: Premiership Merchandise

The version out now is the only version that will be released.

ABC commentary has never been included on any premiership DVDs because it's a Government funded station and therefore can't be included as the DVDs are commercial ventures.

Not sure why 3AW isn't included, it was in 2007 and on the Hawks DVD last year, but I imagine the station has decided for one reason or another not to allow their broadcast to be used.

I emailed the company who produces the DVD's and they said that they will be releasing a multi-DVD "Victory Pack" like the '07 version on 1 November. I'll be waiting for that version.

Not sure about ABC commentary but they weren't on the '07 version. Hope they get 3AW on this years though.

Re: Premiership Merchandise

I had my first up close look at some of the merch today and i was pretty disappointed.

The caps are terribly plain and the tees look very amateurish.

I've ordered the replica cup, i'll be getting some of the beer, the Victory Pack, maybe some nice photos from Slattery and something for my wall, but i don't think i'll be buying any of the clothing, at least not in the near future, anyway.

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Can someone explain to me what the current situation with WEG posters is?

Obviously, WEG has passed on (RIP), and that Mark Knights has been appointed to continue his legacy in producing the official Herald Sun Premiership posters.

However, u can purchase two different 'official' WEG posters for 2009 from Wegs World and from Weg Art. What is the story here? Are these both Weg prints and if so, why wouldnt they just release one 'official' print?

Can someone point me in the right direction here?

I'm lost with the whole situation too.

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Love the sig, S"THD"J. Just reading it again made the skin tingle.

I grew up listening to Rex, so although he might be a bit past it, i'll always have fond memories of his calls.

Re: Premiership Merchandise

Honestly I don't give a shit about the Weg posters and the cartoon poster whatevers in football. Nothing personal it's just not the sort of thing I would put on my wall.

But, Weg has showed a little bit because he has clearly designed the poster around the new cat face we have branded. At least he took the time to incorporate our brand into his style. PS, I hope he did them and not someone else after he died else I look a little silly just saying that

I think they're done by some guy called Paul Harvey...

I usually like the posters but the "official" one is butt ****ing ugly.

As I understand it (and I could be wrong)...

  • Before WEG passed away, he appointed Paul Harvey to continue drawing the 'WEG' premiership poster each year:

  • The Herald Sun decided to continue the 'WEG' tradition, with Mark Knight taking over - the only condition was that the profits still fund the Royal Childrens' Hospital:

    phpThumb.php
  • A few weeks prior to the Grand Final, a relative of WEG came across a heap of drawings that WEG had completed prior to his death which pretty much ensured that there'd be enough 'WEGs' of the current 16 teams to enable the release of a premiership poster for another 40 years:

Hopefully this clears some stuff up - please correct any details I may have got wrong. I believe the poster actually drawn by WEG is getting some flack as his closest relatives don't actually 'endorse' it as such.

IMHO the poster actually drawn by WEG is the best of the lot. :thumbsu:
I like Mark Knight's style though, but Paul Harvey's just doesn't do it for me.
