yeah they develop the boys that go to the right school! Assumption, PEGS, ST B's

!??!! There are 45 odd boys in the squad and about 9 of them go to private schools - are you seriously suggesting they have only developed those 9 boys??? Not a very sound strategy I would have thought. A bit insulting for the other boys who played in the first few rounds....

that stuff on the facebook is ridiculous!
Look, it may be an overreaction to one bad loss, but people at Calder have prided themselves for a decade on wearing their jumper with pride, playing as a team (not an individuals) and going about their footy "The Calder Way".

Clearly whoever wrote that article found the Cannons effort the other day to be unacceptable and decided it'd be better to focus on whats made that club great as opposed to writing about a game and performance that they'd rather put into history and ensure doesn't occur again.

Word is big Luke Mitchell is only six weeks away, anybody know whether thats right or not? If so, he will be a handy second half of the season contributor for the Cannons.

I think calder would be desperate for him to get back, they are struggling a little compared to what is expected. Is school footy once again having an impact?
Absolutely.

School footy seems to be impacting on Calder more and more every year. We saw last year how Calder improved once they got the school players back. Expect same to happen this year. Bring back Prestia, Liberatore, Wallis, Talia, Hunter, Watson, Grenfell and Wright and they basically regain their #1 midfield, two key defenders and tallest forward.

They dont seem to have a reliable tall goalkicker, Grenfell leads the way with 12 goals, but throw Mitchell in as well surely it'll straighten them up a lot and give them a target to go to.

Toy and Hine going to GC obviously hurts their depth a bit as well. Imagine if they could have played both of them!

how do people see luke mitchell's chances of getting drafted?
was obviously seen as a top 20 pick at the start of the year. where do people thing he will go now?

Surely a lot of it will come down to what shape he presents himself when he returns. Nobody will expect him to be super fit, but they'll still want to see an improvement in certain areas of his game I'm sure.

See Uysal has gotten into the best fairly consistently what can people tell me about him? Any chance of being drafted?

Anybody able to tell us more about what Brian Taylor is doing down at Calder?

Read that he's helping out with some goalkicking practice at training once a week in last weekend's Herald Sun.

coaching in the art of Mo growing and slap fighting...

How far away is Dion Prestia from returning from injury? Will he squeeze a game in with Calder before school goes back?

Prestia, Wallis, Libba, Watson, Guthrie and Meli all back next week I believe. Hunter has done a bad hamstring apparently.
Ozgar Uysal is a top age half forward/mid who has silky skills, quick and definte x factor. Could be a rookie chance I reckon.

I'm liking Dylan Murphy's work to date. Thoughts ??
He was impressive against Bendigo a couple of weeks ago. He was one of the reasons the Cannons came back from being dead and buried at half time. He knows where the goals are and worked very hard against a tiring defence.
I don't know if he is quick enough to play the small forward role, but he does plenty when it comes his way.
Interesting to see if he gets a draft camp invite.

Luke Mitchell is finally back in the Cannons team this weekend. At least he has a few games to show what he can do and hopefully he can perform well.

The Cannons have had an underwhelming season this year and it's looking like they'll miss the top 4 which would mean just knockout finals for them.

One problem has been their preferred midfield being rarely available for them this year. Still the Chargers have way more playing school footy & Vic Metro and they seemed to have coped better.

Cannons favorites are private school boys, if you don't go to the right school you are stuffed.

Public school kids are tested and forget about kids that have leaved school and are trying to work. Not all kids are academic but the one that aren't are ****ed.

The Cannons can try and groom kids from 14 upwards but I will tell any parent that if their kid doesn;'t attend PEG's , St Kevs or EKC they have no hope.

I will thank the cannons for crucifiing my kids football,

bloodyprincess thats bullshit about the schools thing...
basic thing is if your kid is good enough he would of made the squad.. and if he is that good enough theres other paths 2 follow
