Anyone got some inside information on the upcoming 2011 draw?

Any possibility of it being leaked?

I have heard on the quiet that it is going to be terribly biased towards Collingwood, we aren't travelling enough, have too many games at the MCG and play too many bottom 8 teams.

telepathy and other club boards.

The only ones I know arnt Collingwood related and they are Carlton v Richmond will kick off the AFL season again and the Gold Coast will play there first game ever in round 2 at the Gabba against Richmond. Id think we might have the Saints in round 1.

i still remember when last year's draw came out and we were drawn to play geel stk dogs haw all twice. opposition boards were filled with comments about how coll would be shown up for the pretenders they were, etc as they finally had a hard draw to contend with. yeah, they showed us all right. by round 15 the best they could do was revert to whnigeing about the pies playing their last 8 at the G

- Collingwood will not travel enough, even if we go interstate 7 times it will not be enough. Even though our record interstate is prob the best out of all VIC based teams they will only be happy if we ended up travelling every 2nd week

- Collingwood will have an easy draw because everyone we play next year finished below us in 2010

- It will be questioned for the 99th year in a row as to why Collingwood gets so many games at the MCG. Do not answer as they will all magically forget by 2012.

All very good points, especially the second one.

I can't believe we hear the same shite every year about our draw. And the way they all started last year saying how tough we finally had it and we will be smashed and proven to be pretenders.

Yeah well that worked out well and all they can bring out is the old chestnut revolving around the MCG. However I do agree we get an advantage out of that, but it is only because the opposition teams want us to play there.

The fixture, according to Bigfooty nuffies is according to where you play not who you play:rolleyes:

ie Geelong in Victoria is an easier game them WCE @ Subi.

Opposition nuffies seen to conveniently forget that we are entitled to 11 home games and other teams, Essendon, carlton, Hawthorn, Melbourne etc also use the MCG as their home ground. Geelong even moves their home games to the G when they play us.

It's all good, because no matter who we play and where we play them, they'll know they are playing the best.

Prediction for 2011= PAIN for non-Pie supporters

We play WC, North & Syd twice (to add Carlton, Essendon).

If yes, barring injuries. Lock in top 4.

Once finals start a whole new ballgame but one we now know what it's all about.

I'd expect to play Richmond twice also as we haven't played them twice for some time. Freo in the same boat.

Not to mention we had to play home games against the Bulldogs and West Coast at Etihad Stadium. People just like to talk crap and have an excuse for us winning without having to say we're a good team.

So, there continues to be leaks about who is playing who in the first few rounds of the season.

GEELONG and St Kilda are set to re-ignite their fierce rivalry in a Round 1 night-time blockbuster next season. The rematch is tipped to follow the traditional, but recently one-sided, season-opener between Richmond and Carlton on a Thursday night.
The Hawks are pencilled in to take on Adelaide at AAMI Stadium to help mark the Crows' 20-year AFL celebrations.
At Adelaide's request, the match will be a repeat of its first AFL game, which it won against Hawthorn in Round 1, 1991, at the then Football Park.
The Kangaroos will launch their season with a clash against West Coast at Subiaco Oval. It means new Roos' forward Ben McKinley will meet his old side in his first game in blue and white.

So, by the process of elimination, we "could" be playing either of these sides in round 1;

Melbourne
Sydney
Brisbane
Western Bulldogs
Fremantle
Port Adelaide

I've excluded Essendon because of ANZAC day.

My guess is still the Dogs in a Sunday twilight or Saturday night game away game at Etihad, as the Bummers have asked for a home game against a Melbourne based club for round 1 (likely vs the Dees).

Funny that opposition supporters don't seem to mention such teams as St Kilda having 14 'home' games (at Etihad), the same as Collingwood and the Bulldogs have 13 'home' games, only 13 because they voluntarily sell 2 home games. Can't be stuffed looking at other teams but I'm sure those like Carlton and Essendon probably are in the same boat.

But it's only Collingwood with the advantage, natch. There's got to be some excuse other than being a really good football team for us winning the flag.

The reasoning behind playing Collingwood 8 times in a row at the G is purely financial. Other teams do not draw a crowd like Collingwood does. Period.

Good news is, due to the fact that Collingwood can actually create far more money for the AFL than any other club, we will be playing at the MCG as much, if not more than this season. And probably won't play at the Gold Coast.

I'd be surprised with the Gold Coast. We generally play one game in each state and I'd think the AFL would prefer to give the Suns crowd a boost over the Lions (how they have fallen....). No doubt the Lions will also ask for a home game against us to boost their own coffers.

I've got a feeling we may play 5 games interstate this year. Selfishly, I hope we play 2 in QLD.

Irrespective, I have no fear who we play, when and where we play them.

If Collingwood play Fremantle 20 times in Home and Away games; how many home games should Collingwood get and how many should Fremantle get?

I'd like an honest answer please.

From this, I have read Essendon are asking to play the Dees in round 1. I'd cross out both Bulldogs & Demons for us in round 1 becuase we have played both teams twice, the last 2 years and highly unlikely to do so again. Therefore, I'd think it unlikely we'd play a team in round 1 and then not play them again.

Brisbane will play at home in round 1 as the Gold Coast have the Gabba in round 2. I doubt we'd get sent interstate in round 1.

Good opportunity to get a crappynEtihad game out of the way early against either Port, Freo or Swans.

I think Swans at Etihad. We'll play them twice with the 2nd game being mid year as always.

10 and 10.

But CT you also need to look at the advantage you get form playing games at home. You'll play 10 games where your opposition has to travel from interstate which is a big advantage.

Therefore 10 games away (disadvantage), 10 games home (advantage) 2 neutral (you should flog WCE though)

This year the Pies had 4 games away(interstate-disadvantage), 2 games home(against interstate teams-advantage) and 16 games (neutral-Vic teams in Vic)

It's all relative when comparing fixtures of a Melbourne Club and a Non-Melbourne club.

Did Collingwood win the flag because they were the best team or because of the home and away fixture?

I'd like an honest answer please. Note: Essendon and Hawthorn played 3 away games interstate.
