Re: 2011 Media Thread

Apparently someone rang the 3AW rumour line this morning. Im glad the club and HS actually got onto straight away to squash the rumour. It makes you wonder why 3AW allowed it to go to air when they surely knew Goddard was signed. I thought it was 2012 actually so stoked to know its 2013.

jon ralph twitter said its gws not gc and they "had their hearts set on bj and hodge". both of which any football reader knew have both re-signed with their respective clubs last year.
ridiculous from 3aw. seems that your average punter knows more than whomever was hosting 3aw this morning...............

am sending in my resume today, expect interview and job tomorrow. work can get along without me :D

I'll join you my good man, we can call the footy after booting Tiffany cherry & Scotty Lucas out, Kb can stay though just for the angry old man route. :thumbsu:

Also, lol to the GT hate, I said the same thing when he went on that Ross called him the previous incumbent instead of "the fat bastard Grant" I mean of all the things to have a go at the man for it's the form of address? Bottom of the barrel stuff right there, glad I wasn't watching it and was only listening.

Of course GWS dont have to poach they can trade their lucrative draft picks, and since the Saints are rebuilding and all.

The Aged has felt a bit left out (what, with all the bagging of the Saints by the Daily Filth) and has cobbled together this piece of shit:

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/dilemma-for-saints-recycle-or-rebuild-20110411-1db35.html

Sunday was the moment the men of football's foppish prince, James Hird, revealed to all that the Emperor was indeed naked.*

Admittedly it was not the first time this year that St Kilda was witnessed without clothes but that other more prurient matter has little to do with the trouble bedevilling it now.**

That scandalous summer was influential only in that it built on three years of burdensome distraction.

The Saints are presently one of the few sides not playing ''Saints Footy''.

The Saints have always been syrup slow.

The contracted bench has also not helped them keep fresh legs in games and magnifies their slow legs.

Last year ... the suffocating defence kept them in games but their comparative lack of attack left them inferior to the best teams.***

The Saints look weary from the sustained relative success.

A rival club insider said: ''What could they do last year? They didn't get too many decent [draft] picks because of the Gold Coast and no one wanted their players. And they don't have gun young players sitting there ready to get a game.''

The idea of declining pick 30 and Sharrod Wellingham now looks an even more foolhardy offer to pass.****

Indeed, but where are the players going to come from for a rebuild? *****

* Really? You'd write that?

** Double really?

*** what, the ones who didn't make the GF?

**** Looks like the "writer" has being doing his research solely based on BigFooty trolling by filth posters.

***** Where do they normally come from numbnuts?

totally agree.

its school holidays - do you think the year 10 work experience kid wrote this tripe?
cause it sure seems like they may have!

Re: 2011 Media Thread

The comparison between you and Geelong at the moment I find interesting.

You lost narrowly to Geelong and then drew with St Kilda before a disappointing game against a side you have had trouble with in the past and is also playing very good footy.

Geelong fell over the line against you, did a similar thing against Freo before a soft game at home against a struggling Port Power side.

The perception is that a rejuvenated Geelong is flying under a new coach whilst you guys are struggling and stale. Reality is that with a small change of fortunes you may have won your first two and Geelong might have lost their first two.

So sure you haven't had a great start to the season but those that want to write you off are doing so prematurely.

Just my two cents

Nice perspective realignment there, Keyser :thumbsu:

That reminds me, my school 'suggests' that I should do work experience over the school holidays. Maybe I could get a job at the Age or the Hun. I'm sure they'd appreciate my sense of humour.

'Saints lacking size on and off field as Geelong snatch victory'

'Saints stars exposed by teenage brigade, again'

'Riewoldt manhandled by full-back... again'

Journalism at its finest.

Re: 2011 Media Thread

Now, now, the Age is high-brow... when they write unsubstantiated uninformed drivel, they use hard words like "prurient". Who needs facts when you've got a thesaurus?

I agree with that 100%. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

If they happen to ask who you barrack for, if you just say you hate St. Kilda but you don't know why, you should be a shoe in.

No thanks, not worth it. ;)

Re: 2011 Media Thread

Saints start rebuild with long night

BELEAGUERED St Kilda players launched an urgent rebuilding plan with an all night bonding session after captain Nick Riewoldt’s 200th AFL game and thumping from Essendon.

It is understood that almost the entire Saints playing list stayed with their superstar skipper well into the early hours of Monday morning after Riewoldt's failed 200th game when deep soul searching was triggered.
Some Saints players are believed to have lasted until around 6am in the teammates bonding and attempt to kick-start their stumbling season.

And it has emerged that out-of-sorts star Brendon Goddard was given rest and recuperation time off last week in lead up to the big Sunday evening clash with a rejuvenated Bombers in a bid to revitalise the dual All-Australian on-baller

The football media and football public in general have short memories and struggle to look further back than a week or two, nor do they look any more deeply into results than the win/loss column.

Consequently, a team that wins two games in a row is on a roll whilst one that loses two in a row is in crisis. Lose two in a row and then win one and all of a sudden your season is back on track.

As we get closer to the end of the season expect to see a side on the fringe of a finals spot lose a game with headlines proclaiming their finals aspirations are in tatters. Meanwhile another finals aspirant, lower on the ladder will have a win that will be heralded as a sign that they are finals bound.

The inability of so called experts to look into the reasons behind results, to acknowledge that close games can be decided by something as fickle as the bounce of a ball (you guys don't need reminding of that after last years drawn GF) is breathtaking.

Collingwood are flying on the back of wins over Port and North - two sides that also lost to last years wooden spooner.

The season is a long one and you need several weeks of results before a true trend can be discerned. St Kilda are a quality side that is not playing at your best but the easy headline is you're in disarray.

You really have summed up the footballing media quite well there Keyser. Good stuff. :):thumbsu:

Alright something weird is going on. Doesnt seem to be like being linked from here....

You can read the entire article here if you want: http://s7.zetaboards.com/truesainters/topic/8491882/

Hopefully someone can work out the link issue

Re: 2011 Media Thread

If it's a sports news first link then that site is blocked by big footy

Yep it is...How come its blocked?? Dodgy site or something?

Re: 2011 Media Thread

I think the admin here at bigfooty have identified sites that they consider either hostile or direct competition. These sites can't be linked to. The software here blanks it out. If you are determined to link to it, type it out some other way and see if it gets modified. If not - good.

Re: 2011 Media Thread

there was some blatant linking to the site trying to promote it early on

It's run by Sunday times journo Kim hagdorn I believe
