🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Big Footy is trying to get all club boards to have reviews of every player on a clubs list, therefore we need posters to take up the challenge and help us to write previews about the players. Ideally what it would be set out as follows:

Games -
Goals -
Draft Position -
Best and Fairest -
Other Awards - i.e. Rising Star Nomination AA squad member
Dreamteam - total points; $value
Supercoach - total points; $value
Strengths -
Weaknesses -
Career Highlights -
Future Role -

Ideally each players profile should be around the size of an A4 sheet as Big Footy will be compiling all the reviews into a PDF later in the year. So this is your chance to get your work out there. If you are interested please post in here which players you are interested in reviewing. Remember we need every listed player covered including rookies.

Re: We Need Your Help

On the profile is it total games and goals or just for the season.
You could put both if you like. Season tally first then overall tally.

Re: We Need Your Help

How's this?

Name: Ben Griffiths #38
Games: Season: 4 Overall: 9
Goals: Season: 1 Overall: 4
Draft Position: Pick No.19, 2009 draft.
Best & Fairest: -
Other Awards: -
Dream team total (2011) 127 points, $117,200
Supercoach total (2011) 156 points, $159,700
Strengths: Good hands, moves well for a guy his size, (198cm, 99kg), puts his body on the line and has a whopping kick.
Weaknesses: Extremely injury prone.
Career Highlights:
Rd 16 – 2011. The ball is kicked into the centre of the 50 to a one on one contest between young player Ben Griffiths and veteran superstar Dustin Fletcher. Ben skilfully protects the drop zone and in the last second, twists around and takes a diving chest mark. He goes back and kicks truly.
2010 – In the season 2010, he had a 100% strike rate. He played 5 games and we won all of them. He was considered our lucky charm or our ‘secret weapon’ by many supporters.
Future Role:
Ben Griffiths will most likely play CHF in the future if his injuries don’t interfere too heavily.

Re: We Need Your Help

To help here are how the Geelong board is doing their reviews:
Geelong Player Reviews

Also the Demons are doing theirs as well:
Melbourne Player Reviews

So again if you are interested in doing these please pick 1-3 players that you would like to do and take a look at these threads as well as the example above of how to set out your reviews.

Jake Batchelor
Games - 16
Goals - 0
Draft Position - 2010 NAB AFL Draft 2nd round selection, No. 30 overall
Best and Fairest -
Other Awards - Rising Star Nomination, Round 16 2011
Dreamteam - 871; $207,800
Supercoach - 902; $232,500
Strengths - Disposal by foot, courage.
Weaknesses - Not the quickest player and could get more of it, but none too evident in his first season.
Career Highlights - 23 disposals (17 kicks 6 handballs) in Round 7 49 point win of Fremantle at the MCG (7 May 2011), 22 disposals (11 kicks 11 handballs) in round 16 39 point loss to Essendon at the MCG (9 July 2011)
Future Role - Looks set for a long term role across half back at Richmond, perhaps running off the wing at times. With his elite disposal, strength, willingness to put his body on the line and rare capacity to work both ways, Batchelor is somewhat in the mould of a young Corey Enright.

Jake King
Games - 75
Goals - 46
Draft Position - 2007 Rookie Draft, Rd 2 No. 24 overall (Elevated to senior list in 2007)
Best and Fairest - n/a
Other Awards - n/a
Dreamteam - 1057; $205,800
Supercoach - 1236; $282,300
Strengths - Courageous, quick burst of speed, good tackler, trier.
Weaknesses - Hothead who at times is over aggressive, can go missing in games, limited skills.
Career Highlights - Holds the Push Up record at Richmond. 29 Disposals in loss vs Hawthorn Rd 6 2008 (13 Kicks, 16 Handballs, 11 Marks, 109DT pts, 111SC pts), 3 Goals in win vs Essendon Rd 9 2011 (3 Goals plus 1 Goal Assist to go with 12 touches), 8 Tackles in win vs Sydney Rd 14 2010. 4 Total Brownlow votes. Won the 2007 AFL Grand Final Sprint. Captained the club in two 2011 PreSeason matches.
Future Role - After a promising start in the back pocket at Tigerland, got found out by opposing teams. Was tried in a midfield run with role, and later found himself a niche in the forward pocket coupling up with Robin Nahas since the arrival of Damien Hardwick. Excellent forward pressure and a good goal sense seems to mean that his role is deep in the forward line.

David Astbury
Games-22
Goals-5
Draft Position-Pick 35 in 2009 National Draft
Best and fairest-
Awards-
Strengths-Versatility, cool head under pressure, stong mark
Weaknesses-Still a bit of developing left for him to compete with the gorillas like he eventually will be, gets manhandled right now too easily.
Career Highlights-Kicked 3 goals on debut as a forward leading out of the goalsquare in rd 4 2010. Was a bright light on a day where the team itself got flogged
Future Role-Seems to be groomed to our CHB for the next 10 years, has good size and speed and with a couple more pre-seasons he should have more confidence to take on the gorillas like we need him to.

Trent Cotchin

Games - 64

Goals - 34

Draft Position - Pick 2 in 2007 draft

Best and Fairest - 2011 B&F winner.

Other Awards -
2008 Rising Star nomination in Rd 12; 2011 Rd 9 Dreamtime Yiooken award winner.

Dreamteam - 2011 Avg 93.7 (2061) - $373,000

Supercoach -
2011 Avg 100.6 (2213) - $439,000

Strengths -
Brilliant contested ball winning ability with silky foot skills to match. Great lateral movement in tight spaces along with a strong core which makes him a very hard body to bring down. Great leadership qualities with a never die attitude, will attack a contest at all costs, yet be able to maneuver himself to avoid serious injury. Not to mention can take a grab and move forward to kick a few goals.
I could go on for days...

Weaknesses -
Currently is a bit inaccurate in front of the goals. Also can lack defensive pressure at times.

Career Highlights -
Where to begin...

29 disposals in 16 point win over Essendon Rd 9, 2011. Which included the juiciest of juicy volley pick ups on the wing you'll ever witness.

38 disposals in 62 point loss to Geelong Rd 18, 2011. Stood up when the captain was subbed off due to injury. Stood tall against a champion midfield in Geelong, was a glimpse of what he's capable of when put head to head instead of being sat on by a player all game.

30 disposals in 71 point loss to Collingwood Rd 4, 2011. Again was a dominant presence along with Dusty in the midfield all game, the scoreline doesn't do his performance justice.

29 disposals in 43 point win over Sydney Rd 21, 2011.
With Newman out for the rest of the season, Cotchin relished in the role of captain. Was a true captain's game, forever present and kicking the sealer that he missed earlier in the year.

I think I'll stop here... For now...

Future Role - The next captain of Richmond. Will continue his position in the midfield, hopefully with more support around him with blokes like Dusty and Lids spending more time in the guts, he won't have to carry so much of the load and we can see him use those beautiful foot skills at work hitting our forwards up lace out.

Dylan Grimes. (AKA Grimey)

Games - 8 (total), 7 in 2011.

Goals - 0

Draft Position - 2010 NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft 1st round selection (Richmond) No. 2 overall.

Best and Fairest - 0 (not yet anyway)

Other Awards - Nil

Dreamteam - 310pts (44.2 ave) in 2011 - $167,500. Top score 61. * Would be one of DT's best players if murdering footballs with your fist recorded points.

Supercoach - 439pts (62.7 ave) in 2011 - $246,100. Top score 94 on the big stage against Essendon in Dream Time at the G before ripping his hamstring to shreds.

Strengths - His left and right fists. Dylan has never lost a game of knuckles. His friends also refuse to engage in a game of 'punch buggy' when in the car with him on a road trip. He has 12 favourtite days of the year... the 1st of every month (pinch and a PUNCH). Like his brother Jack Dylan has great awareness and easily anticipates the play before it happens. He is also relatively composed with the ball in hand for someone so young and with only 8 games to his name.

Weaknesses - 'PAPER'... Grimes always chooses 'ROCK' when trying to make a decision and/or settle arguments. Being a member of the Grimes family... injuries are also an obvious weakness (i.e. Hamstrings) and may prove to hinder his develop over the course of his career (knock on wood). Having only recorded a career high 16 possessions, Grimey could be accused of not finding enough more of the pill in today's high possession game.

Career Highlights - Stringing together 7 games of football in a row (a Grimes family record). Dylan did hold the WORLD RECORD for most spoils in a single game of Aussie Rules football...that was until the Hawks' Josh Gibson refused to take a mark and opted to double-fist every ball that came his way in Rd 2 of this years finals against the Swans.

Future Role - Tall Key Defender for the next 10 years at Tigerland, who will be locking down the back-half with Rance and co week-in week-out.
Grimes develop his ball winning abilities with the more games he gets to his name. As he gains more confidence in his marking, Tigers fans can look forward to seeing Dylan take marks and rebound from the defensive 50 rather than killing the ball and punching it 27 rows deep as he did in the first part of 2011.

Shane Edwards

Games - 89 games, 20 in 2011

Goals - 4 in 2011, 39 career

Draft Position - Round 2, Pick #26 National Draft

Best and Fairest - 0 (Best result - 6th 2010)

Other Awards - Nil

Dreamteam - 1,242pts (62.1 ave) in 2011 - $248,600.

Supercoach - 1,241pts (62.0 ave) in 2011 - $314,200.

Strengths - Lateral movement and movement in traffic is the best of club. Good hands. Has good pace and is the best overhead mark at the club for his size. Despite his slender frame is also good below packs and winning contested footy. Good knowledge and good football brain. Along with Foley, Cotchin and Deledio is one of Richmond's "big trainer's"

Weaknesses - Foot skills at times are down right deplorable - in contested situation's this can be forgiven, but when he is out in space on the wing it stands out like the preverbal. Undone his good work too often. Know's where to move when running forward but doesn't hurt nearly enough in front of goals. His slender frame see's him get knocked around packs and his tackles get brushed off. Is only "okay" defensively.

Career Highlights - 1 brownlow vote in 2008 where he kicked 3 goals against the bombers and could have kicked 6. Round 18 2008 against Geelong where despite being thumped he was clearly BOG up to half time before Milburn snipped him. Rounds 15-22 in the 2010 season where he polled equal most votes in the BnF.

Future Role - I like him and can see he has massive upside. Too often he overthinks his decisions and his skills suffer because of it. Isn't afraid to put his body on the line either. Edwards has played forward, back and on the wing. He will have a big 2012. I think his role should be at half forward.

Although tempting to do some of the big names. I will take Tucky and Fumbles McGuane. If we can do more than 2 I would do big Vickery as well.

Will have them done by the end of the weekend for you RT.

Bachar Houli

Games - 48

Goals - 14

Draft Position - Pick 42 in 2006 draft

Best and Fairest – 4th in 2011 B&F [1st year at RFC]

Other Awards - 2007 Rising Star nomination in Rd 1

Dreamteam - 2011 (1847) - $315,200 [+$60.100]

Supercoach - 2011 (1963) - $414,700 [+$90,000]

Strengths – A lethal left boot; Bachar is one of the most precise long kicks of the football in the game today. He has an ability to consistently find players in space and usually kicks to advantage enabling the Tigers to move the ball from defence to attack quickly. A bullet like handball has been evident at times as well and he brings other players in to games well. Very strong character!

Weaknesses – At 180cm can be exposed for a lack of height, he has not consistently demonstrated an ability to lock down a small or mid-sized forward and in my opinion needs to work on making his tackles stick.

Career Highlights - I think the move to the Tigers has been the catalyst for Bachar growing as a footballer, having played 22 games in 2011 [26 in four seasons with EFC], Avg disposals of 12.4 kicks and 9.3 handballs [Avg. total 21.7].

Future Role – Will continue to play the rebounding defender role off the half back line and with the addition of Morris to the Tigers line up, we may see Bachar playing more time on a wing or as an outside midfielder which will enable him to deliver some fantastic inside 50 ball to our tall forwards.
