I'm wondering what my fellow Blues fans think of the players we now have on the Rookie List? All I know about them is what their little draft profiles said on the website, so I am hoping that some other posters here might know a bit more about them. How do you see each player? What do you think their potential is? Who do you think will get a senior game first? Who do you think will be the best/most effective player in the long-term? Who would you compare them to as far as the way they play?

Feel free to add anything else as well, as I basically just want to get some discussion going about these players that some of us (such as mysef) know so little about.

Peter Labi (#33) highlights:

The man loves a goal. Might be as big a bargain as Jeffy, but I don't think he can play this year.

Casboult, Dare, Tuohy and even Cachia all showed something last year - the first three just got better and better as the VFL season went. Tuohy looks ready to me. He's got the pace and the foot, and god knows the quads. Considering his late start, he's progressed brilliantly.

They all need to improve their tank. If he does that and improves his intensity over 4 quarters then Casboult could be a monster forward that will give sides nightmares for years to come. Dare looks like a Maxwell type to me. Not as tall or as strong a mark of course, but the type of player who can see the whole game unfolding and will always do what's necessary.

O'Keefe is obviously better than his injury run has permitted him to be. Curnow's season last year speaks for itself. If both are fit, then they're montys to play in 2011.

Bray, Carter, Twomey I have no idea about (even the CFC site says nothing about Twomey other than birthdate). Bray's stats are nothing to write home about - avg 9 disposals at 58% efficiency - and that's in some crappy NSW comp. Don't expect much there. Carter sounds quick, but otherwise he's a mystery. The WA boys might know more about him.

I was a bit disappointed about losing Donaldson, but no-one else picked him up so I guess that says something.

How many nominated rookies do we have this year anyway? 2? 3? They're all bound to get their chances in the NAB round-robins in any case.

Casboult- Levi has lost his puppy fat and has really bulked up. He has been doing whatever he can to get in shape. He will do extra if it will help. He can take a mark and has a wonderful kick. He's a top kid too. He's like Kreuze, isnt very vocal. Just goes about his business.
O'Keeffe- has a booming kick, left footer. In the 8 games he played in 09 before getting injured, I was really impressed- just the way he went about things. He played off half back in those games (from memory)
Tuohy- Tuohy has come along in leaps and bounds. Sort of like Mitch Robinson, in the fact that he'd run through a brick wall. Has massive quads!, boys had nicknamed him quadzilla at one stage. For someone who hasnt been playing the game very long, he looks like a natural.
I dont really know too much about the rest of the boys but from the games Ive seen Cachia and Dare play, we've got some beauties. Cachia is quite tough and really works hard. Dare knows what he's doing.
Dont know anything about Carter, Twomey, Curnow Bray, or Peter Labi.
Im really excited about Levi and Rhys. I think we have found some real beauties over the past few years.

In answer to your questions:
Who will play senior footy first? I think Cachia and Casboult.
best/most effective player in the long-term? Casboult
Hope some of that helps. :)

Curnow was previously on Adelaides list, played at Box Hill in 2010 but broke his ankle, when Box Hill played the Bullants he had something like 45 possesions, was tipped to be rookied by Hawthorn but Carlton got in 1st.

Reckon Levi will surprise a few this season. There's something about the way he goes about it - quiet, confident and professional. Smart footballer, with lots of natural ability and a huge frame. It's definitely going to be a bit of a shootout between Mitchell and Levi for the goal-square forward spot over the next few years.

:)
