Clarke, DuffieldIbbotson, Lower Sub; Hayden/Bradley

We have some pretty good options from; Duffield, Ibbotson, Bradley/Johnson, Clarke/Griffin, Lower, Robertson, players who emerge from our list (Pitt, Mellington, Watters, Mitchie, Bucca etc). We'll get 1 or 2 from the draft who will contribute as well.

Clarke is a lock for 2nd ruck for me, so is an automatic selection here.

Pace is a big concern in that Bench, .

Our use of the sub has lacked a fair bit this year. maybe that has been due to it being used a lot as a mechanism for bringing back injured players. We don't seem to have someone who can be a bit of a weapon in that regard; and explosive, impact player. Maybe Pitt, Mellington, Mitchie, Bucca etc could step-up to it in 2012. Generally I would choose to have Bradley as the sub. He could come in for Houghton as he develops. He could run around in most areas of the ground, and take the ruck if we get any injuries there. I think he contributes, and creates match-up issues. Hayden could be a great sub.

Not particularly interested in; McPhee, Anthony, Crowley, Palmer (I have assumed he is gone) etc. Not saying they can't/won't play a role, but that I think our priority should be towards other players from next year on. Perhaps Duffield and Johnson in that group too.

I think another thing that has hurt us is having a big man back on the bench - it reduces our running capacity. For the Harvey gameplan to work, I think you need to have your backup ruck as a forward alla Bradley. And maybe in the future Houghton/Clarke. depending on where Ruffles is I would be looking to get him back as he has the speed to be nifty impact player - Pitt and Ruffles as bench players makes us look a lot speedier. I would also keep McPhee, just has the ability to win a few games with a standout effort and can play a few roles.

Swing the changes for me then, don't just add in players. From my bench you want to omit Clarke (to starting 22 for Houghton), and add in MacPhee, Pitt and Ruffles. Who out of Duffield, Ibbotson and Lower are not in? For sure we will have injuries, but we should have at least another couple of contenders for spots next season from drafting/trading, and player development.

sorry Gav - would say preferred interchange would be:

McPhee (experienced utility who can fill variety of roles)
Pitt (Midfielder / Utility)
Ruffles (Midfielder / Utility) - OR new midfield draftee.
sub: Mellington (Forward)

I would have Clarke as FF / Backup ruck if he can maintain form.

Houghton, Bradley and Johnson would be the backups for McPhee, whilst Michie, Van Berlo, Crowley backups for the midfielders.

I think next year they should have 4 Interchange and 1 Sub

So 23 all up on matchday! The game is becoming faster each year...it takes it's toll on the players...more rotations are needed!

I reckon we've got it wrong most weeks this year. It appears the match committee pick the 22, then the last one picked in the 22 is the sub. But they should really pick 21 players, then select the sub from whoever's left and can have an impact. If the guy that is 26th in the batting order for this weeks game is someone who can have a real impact in less than a half of footy then he should be sub and whoever is rankd 22nd misses out and becomes the emergency.

The likes of Pitt, Roberton, Hinkley, Crichton and Palmer have all been substitute this year and are the type of players who rely on endurance and have had little to no impact when subbed on.

Ibbotson, Roberton, Hinkley and Palmer, Hayden, Pearce, Van berlo. None of these guys will take us to a permiership.

Ballas, Hill are in terrible form. Duff and Crowley are on the way out. Next year looks tough.

I'd be very surprised if Michie doesn't start in the 22 next year. He is good.

Awesome. Look forward to seeing him push up. At the moment quite a few posters are saying Walters, or Michie, or MacPhee or Pitt etc will be in, without actually shaping up a team. In your mind who is in the team, who is out, and where should our recruiting targets lie?
