We have to play in Geelong again

Big club like ours on the rise shouldn't have to play there. Just look at Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Hawthorn. They haven't played there for about 10 years but we have been there at least half a dozen times in that period

Thanks Stig.

Seriously though, why the **** do we have to travel to Geelong again.

You're not wrong, I posted this in another thread.

No doubt get screwed again the first four Rounds

Round 1 - Carlton
Round 2 - Collingwood
Round 3 - Geelong @ Skilled
Round 4 - Hawthorn

Wasn't far off.

We play the top 4 teams from last year in the first 5 weeks
Only play GWS and Gold Coast once
And somehow we've been given less Friday and Saturday night games, even though we are on the rise and are one of the only teams that consistently gets at least 45-50 thousand people to our home games.

What a joke, it really annoys me how teams like Melbourne and North are hand gifted wins, they are pretty much in the same position as us in terms of onfield success, and they pull about 3 people to their games.

Whilst very irritating that we once again are handed a terrible fixture, the only thing that will stop us being successful is ourselves, the fixture should be no excuse.

Re: We have to play in Geelong again

I enjoy going to Geelong, catching the early train down. getting rat arksed on the terraces , then drinking in geelong afterwards and nearly missing the last train it's a fun day.
I remember about 5 years ago we actually beat them down there

Round 9, 27 May 2006 Skilled Stadium Geelong defeated by Richmond 90-110 J. Bartel 29
C. Hyde 4
it was an awesome day it's time for us to do it again

I don't see how the fixture is too bad besides the first 5 weeks? If we can get away with one win from those 5 games, that's a fair effort.

After that, it's not too bad.

Carlton = Beatable.
Melbourne = Beatable.
West Coast = Beatable in Melbourne.

Well, I suppose. But even so, if we can just get one win from those 5 I'd be happy.

You said we've been bent over. What's wrong?

I dont think its all that bad of a fixture. We have a tough start but if we snatch a win and beat melbourne then we are well poised

Play Carlton, Essendon, Melbourne, Port and Freo twice... Carlton is the only team that has the wood over us. We get to play WC down here which makes it a winnable game. Geelong would probably thump us no matter where we played them

We get sydney at home where we have won the last 2 against them and from rounds 10-17 i honestly believe we can win every game.

12 wins in 2011... there is no reason why we cant

Football: As they did in 2011, Richmond again has a difficult start to the year, playing four of the 2011 top five in the opening five rounds. But at least the Tigers won't have to go far from home in that time. They only leave Victoria once in the first 11 rounds. Will face Port Adelaide twice, but not Gold Coast or Greater Western Sydney. On the flip side, the Tigers won't play any 2011 top four teams twice, although they will meet Carlton a second time. Have reduced their interstate home games from two to one, again jeopardising a near-certain four points by playing the Suns in Cairns. Should be comfortable with five six-day breaks, six interstate trips (including their Cairns home game) and no consecutive weeks of travel.

Business: Six home games against Victorian clubs, including Carlton, Melbourne, Hawthorn and Essendon, should be profitable, as of course will the Cairns home game against Gold Coast. Also pleasing for the bean counters will be avoiding certain low-drawing Melbourne match-ups with the Suns and Giants. Have only two Friday night matches, but four Saturday nights, six Saturday afternoons, and no Sunday twilights. Twelve games on free to air TV puts them on par with Hawthorn and St Kilda.

Big game: Preceded by games against Carlton and Collingwood and followed by clashes with Geelong and West Coast, the round three MCG meeting with Melbourne already looks like a must-win. Sure to see the Tiger faithful out in force and desperate to belt out the song.

We need to start well in seasons to continue to improve. I'm being optimistic in the post above. It's likely will only win one game in the first 5 rounds.

Yeah, maybe. It's a long season though so momentum comes and goes a bit. I think we have to make sure we peak at the right time.

Look at the fixture again and tell me that after round 5 that we've got games where we can just put a line through like some of the first few? At least we only play Collingwood and Geelong once each and they're over and done with early on in the season.

The better we get, the less the draw will effect us. Time to step up and just take it on as a challenge rather than complain.

Geelong are unveiling the flag in round 4. We're ****ed

In 2008 we played Melbourne in Rd 3 (i think) and perhaps as it was the first flag unfurling in living memory at the club, we had this elaborate ceremony where Geelong's players lined up on the ground while a parachutist landed with the flag before it was put on the ceremonial flagpole.

Geelong's players were on the ground standing around for maybe 20-25 minutes and perhaps it was small wonder that the Dees started with the first three goals, and Geelong were only about level at 3/4 time before winning by an unconvincing 4 goals or so.

Hoping the Cats have improved with practice over the years in that regard!:D
