May be of interest (particularly whilst it's a bit quiet on the Saints front, although could be more suited to the more "mature" vintage of poster):

In late August 1983, (Simon O'Donnell) played his 24th game for St Kilda. The following February, just turned 21, he took four wickets and made 130 on debut for Victoria at the MCG.

O'Donnell spent the 1981 winter in the St Kilda under-19s; marked for bigger things at a struggling club, he started pre-season training under Alex Jesaulenko on the Monday after that year's Carlton-Collingwood grand final. Punishment for another ordinary year, it broke new ground in gruelling.
Five nights a week they sweated, with a fitness test every other Saturday - a run from Dendy Street, Brighton, to the Black Rock clock, along the beach, up and down, scrambling to beat your previous time lest your Sunday be taken off you too. ''They were hard yards, blokes spreadeagled all over the place.''

Torture test done, he'd don the whites and bowl 20-odd overs for Essendon that afternoon.

Teammate Ian Sartori was playing district cricket, Bruce Duperouzel had played five games as a batsman for Western Australia, Con Gorozidis was a suburban cricket star.

His football debut was not only memorable but historic; Michael Tuck was reported only once in 426 games, for allegedly striking S. O'Donnell (StK).

While I'm here, right now we have a bit over 20,000 members. Does anybody know how that compares to this time last year?

No point comparing them as memberships were released earlier this year then last!
