Thanks, sf and meltiger. This place would be a nicer place to visit if you cut out the petty bitching, though. It doesn't make you look good.
I do get the sense that loose carries are seldom penalised these days in the NRL, compared to a few years ago. The strip rule is a good one, but it should be reserved for vigorous playing at the ball by defenders in a multi-man tackle. ISTR Sam Burgess was stripped in the Souths game where he should have had a penalty.
Also, not just in tackles, but at the play-the-ball too, IMO. Players who are in such a hurry to get up and play the ball that they fumble it shouldn't be allowed to get away with it just cos the tackler is in the vicinity.
