After a few years break, the Carlton Board Draft Game is back!
This game has not featured over the past few years but has been run successfully a number of times.
The rules of this game are very simple:
- Draft the best possible side with the selections you have. The draft order will be drawn at random and the draft will snake as the rounds progress.
- Each current AFL listed player is available for selection.
- Participants will initially have a maximum of 6 hours to draft between the hours of 8am and 12am. If a pick is not taken during this time frame that selection is 'skipped' and can be taken any time thereafter.
- At the conclusion of the draft there will be a FA period as well as a trade period. Dates and length of these periods will be confirmed as the initial draft draws to a close. At this stage I am thinking a 2 day FA period and a 1 week trade period but I am open to suggestions.
- At this stage, players drafted in the 2013 National Draft are not available for selection. If participants are keen a supplementary draft can be organized whereby all players drafted in that draft will be available for selection.
- Participants are required to fill a squad of 30 players. There will be 30 rounds of drafting, after which players can be dropped at any time. Squads can subsequently be topped up through the trade and FA periods.
- At the conclusion of the draft(s) and FA and trade periods, each participant will be asked to submit their votes to determine the winner of the game. Votes will be tallied on a 3-2-1 basis. Participants cannot vote for themselves.
In the past I have run this game with 16 participants however I believe this is too much, so at this stage I am looking for 10 drafters.Whilst this game is open to all Carlton supporters, I do request that you only participate if you are a regular on the boards. In the past we have suffered from players losing interest/dropping out and I am keen to avoid that this year.
I do request that all participants are courteous to their fellow participants. If you cannot commit, don't join. If you are a participant and know you will be away from your computer, please submit a 'wish-list' to another poster who can post your selection, enabling us to keep the game moving at a reasonable pace.
Please indicate your interest in this thread. We will begin once we have 10 people signed up.
I encourage you to join as this has been great fun in the past and there's no reason why it can't be this year too!
