He went to swans just before our pick

There was never any chance Membrey would slip to pick 50. Would we have picked him had Hrovat not slid? Who knows, maybe? But I don't think we were that keen on him in hindsight.

Brett Anderson's saying via twitter that it's between Aish and KK for us. I'm pretty stoked with that

If that is true, then I think it will end up being KK. Can see the Saints actually taking Aish themselves.

1. GWS - Boyd
2. GWS - Kelly
3. Saints - Aish
4. Bulldogs - KK
5. Suns - Scharenburg

Can see it happening this way. Will actually throw most phantom drafts off, and make the rest of the draft become interesting.

I always thought Membrey was a BF thing.

I thought a few media people were into him too?

It would be interesting to see where Emma Quayle rated him, she seems to be in the know about these things.

You would know more than me :p It remains to be seen if we missed out on much, We did get Prudden after all :p

25. TIM MEMBREY
(Gippsland Power. 18, 189cm, 88kg)
Membrey's a big kid who was easily able to outbody many of his opponents this year. But he didn't do it entirely through brute force: he knew how to position himself and how to nudge others with a hip to get them out of the way and get the ball into his arms. Kicked goals in big, close finals for Gippsland and could be a tough-to-match-up-on third forward at AFL level.
Who will pick him? He's another chance for Collingwood. It's tough to see him going before then, but you never know. If he's there at pick 22, and the Bulldogs haven't already taken Jake Stringer, he could well end up at Whitten Oval.

Was fairly sure he was rated early 2nd round by a few, thanks for that to prove I'm not crazy :p Sydney fans are quietly confident he's going to be something special as well.

I'de be pissed if we took Bontempelli at 4. I hate reaching with early picks. It's fraught with danger
Couldn't agree more . Filling a need or upside is something that should not even enter our calculations.
Best available only

Nah, very different. He's that same sort of height + athleticism, ruck + forward combo as Cordy but he's very strong through the body and actually puts his arms above his head and marks strongly, unlike Cordy.
So did Ayce before he was drafted...:(

Also if we get KK I may have to leave Bigfooty and quit Facebook. People still have trouble with Hargrave and Griffen for ****'s sake!

Is it a case of cotchin v griffen with Aish v KK??

Difficult to choose.

I'm assuming you mean Deledio vs Griffen? Because neither of them are like Cotchin :p

I don't really think so. Aish is comparable to Griffen at the same age, but KK isn't too similar to Deledio.

Looking at the highlights package of Aish, I thought his composure and disposal technique Definetly reminded me of cotchin. Once he fills out more, his inside game will be just as good. Also with KK, his kicking seems to be penetrating like griffen, and like him he is also starting out as a rebounding defender.

I can see similarities with Griffen and KK, and Griffen with Aish. I don't see it with Cotchin. Cotchin and Aish are completely different players in my view, Cotchin much more inside, and his skills aren't as good either. Bit of a strange player to draw a parallel to.

Can definitely see those comparisons, although Aish's inside game obviously has a long way to go to get near Cotchins level.

Aish is a lot more like Cotchin than either Deledio or Griffen, imo. But a better kick than Cotchin. Aish will develop his inside game more at AFL level.

As it is at the moment though, tough to think of a player comparison to Aish. I think he'll end up a lot like Cotchin though.

The reason I make the player comparison is because that's the only major thing that's different between the two- inside game. I have a lot of confidence in our coaching for Aish to dramatically improve it over the years. Igloo this then raises the question of.. Do we want another griffen or a cotchin like player?

I don't see it that much, I might be focusing too much on Cotchin's inside game compared to Aish's because I see that as one of Cotchin's main traits. And I definitely don't think he'll end up like Cotchin, Cotchin will be much more inside than Aish will, if we pick him we'll expect him to play outside, and then probably just become an all rounder but his strength will be on the outside. And also Aish has better skills, Cotchin's kicking isn't all too flash, and to harness that we'll play him outside.

I see KK more as a Luke Hodge type, not Griff. Medium pacer with a Beautiful pin point left leg, courageous backing into packs and able to setup play via his rebounding.

I agree.
I don't see a Griffen in KK either though :p. If I had the choice between Aish and KK, its Aish every day of the week.

If we pick Aish, we will want to develop him in the midfield as an all rounder. Nothing more certain. There is no way I can imagine we'd just expect him to play outside.

Of course we'll want him to be an all rounder, but to start off with we'll get him to play majority outside/HBF until he builds his frame/strength.
