What are your expectations for 2013? Do you think we will go back-to-back? Do you think we will finish top 4 again? What players do you expect to peak and step up? etc...

For the first time in a long time, I am expecting top 4. If we don't, it's a fail imo.

I hope we see a 40+ goal season from Reid. I hope Mitchell gets on the park and plays a few senior games. I hope Parker improves again becomes even more similar to Jude. I hope Hannebery, Johnson and Jetta continue to lead the way for the youngsters. Even if just two of those hopes come to fruition we should be right up there next year.

Tippett would be a nice bonus, too.

Rohan if anything will be slowlyyy eased in mate no chance of him stepping up to anything in 2013 xD

I agree on anything less than a top 4 will be disappointing for the club.

I agree but I'm kind of hoping that Gaz can step up 2nd half of the season and be our x-factor come end of the season/final just like Morton was this year

Anything less than a flag is going backwards I guess so lets hope for back to back. Id love to see Membrey come out and dominate Jack Darling style and have everyone say I cant believe he go to the pick 46. Parker to have a break out year, Mitchell to play injury free and Rohan to dominate the second half of the year.

Reckon we'll finish about third.
Our big improvements this year to come from Pyke and Reid. AJ to continue steady rise and Parker to return to his form of early 2012. SCG to remain a fortress. Mitchell to play a few games. I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't expect Rohan to play seniors in 2013. Hopefully he'll dominate the reserves by season's end.

Benny & Gazza to win a medal. :p

Realistically I'd expect (pros and cons):
- a top 4 finish
- make it to a Prelim final
- Rohan to make it back into the seniors
- Mitchell to play himself into the seniors at least once or twice for the year (min)
- Mal & shaw to compete for beardsman honours yet again come finals time
- Bolts to slow down a touch and be subbed once or twice
- Goodes to slow down and play a more foward based role
- Reid to kick 40+
- Jetta to be tagged (ala Rioli) week in week out
- AJ to finally get a mention in the media for a close to BOG
- ROK to weigh every morsel of food he even thinks about eating
- Pyke & Mummy to focus on a Cox/NicNat type ruck playbook
- Grundy will proabably muff somthing up resulting in drawn daggers by some on BF
- The SCG development will continue to annoy those poor ridiculously healthy elite sportsman that have to walk "all that way"
- The media will beat up big time on the Tippett drama
- The media/public will write us off (installing Hawthorn as odds on favourites)
- Channel 7 will continue to be crap
- I'll buy my SA membership and get abused moreso at the Crows game than the Port game (like every other year)
- We will still go about our business and get through to another finals series and probably "surprise" everyone yet again.

Go Bloods!!

I expect the selectors will have a hard time picking the best 22 every week. McGlynn and Rohan are likely in our best 22, so which two players get dropped from the GF? Then what about the possibility of Tippett coming, and young players like Cunningham, Lamb, Mitchell and this years draftees also vying for a spot? It's a tough job to have.

I"m half expecting, half hoping for Nick Mal to have a huge year, his impact on the GF maybe being the catalyst for Nick getting back the form that had him - rightly -in the frame for all aus not too long ago.

I don't see it being an issue at all, it never is. McGlynn and Rohan were injured and therefore unavailable. If they are fit it is likely someone else is injured. We had a very lucky run with injuries in 2012 and even so there are always a couple of players out.

As for Cunningham, Lamb and Mitchell - they played a combined 1 game in 2012. Every team tends to talk up its depth at this time of year but a lot of the players that get thrown around have little or no senior experience, and there are always players out with injury and suspension.

A complete and utter thrashing of Collingwood at the MCG in front of tens of thousands of their inbred feral fans. A game that so humiliates them that Bucks' job comes into question, Melbourne media get on their case, Swan gets pissed again and we go on to win the next 17 straight games against them.

Minor & Major premiers

Kenny streaks across the SCG

Anything less is a fail

I won't expect top 4. I'll happily take it if it comes, but every year teams step up, injuries happen etc... All i expect from the team is the things that make me support them. Always give their all, never give in.

What i think might happen or things i'd like to see:
-Goodes and Jude both showed signs that their bodies are starting to weaken. I hope they hold up, but wouldn't be surprised if both miss significant time to injury.
-More on-field time for the younger players and also Tommy Walsh to get a crack (if he's up to it).
-I hope Morton can solidify a spot in the best 22. He played well all finals, and seems to have that X-factor like Goodes (anyone else notice how well those two seemed to work together?) in that he can do the tricky stuff, and reads the bounce of the ball so well. If we lose Goodes, he could be our best creative player up forward.
-I'd really, really like to smash Adelaide by about 10 goals.
-News that Kennedy, Smith, AJ and Jetta have all signed new 3 or 4 year deals would be very welcome indeed. I think those 4 are the ones that other clubs are likely to try and poach, so getting them locked in would be good.
-Oh, and i'm probably going to be at the Anzac game in Wellington, so a win there would be nice.

Think I would almost have the signature of Hanners before each and every single one of them except Kennedy.

You heard it here first....
  • Reid - Improves dramatically, kicks 40+ goals, marks begin to stick.
  • Jetta - Improves dramatically, kicks 50+ goals, will get chased down once.
  • Hannebery - Improves dramatically, averages 28+ possessions.
  • Parker - Improves dramatically, secures place in 22, begins to take the reins from Bolton, will become a highlight to watch.
  • Johnson - Improves dramatically, will take Grundy's spot as number 2 defender (except against big bodies).
  • Pyke - Improves dramatically, becomes number 1 ruck due to mummy's crumbling knee, kicks a couple of goals from outside 50, will also have a 3 goal game.
  • Kennedy - Continues to improve, averages 32+ possessions, kicks 30+ goals, wins Brownlow (yep!).
  • Jack - Continues to improve, kicks 30+ goals, makes top 10 for brownlow.
  • Morton - Continues to improve but will be inconsistent, will have trouble securing a spot in best 22, will play 1/2 the year at most.
  • McGlynn - Continues to improve, will kick 20+ goals, will be suspended for 2 games for punching Ballantyne, will play GF.
  • Bird - Continues to improve, develops his x-factor.
  • Richards - Continues to improve (yep), and maintains the No.1 Defender status.
  • Smith - Continues to improve, will be in the top 5 taggers for league.
  • Grundy - Continues to improve, will kick 2 goals!
  • Armstrong - Continues to improve, will play 10+ games including subs, will secure the running-defender backup position for Eski/Shaw.
  • Cunnington - Continues to improve, plays 5+ full games, regular sub, used to rest midfielders, will have great finals series and play in GF.
  • Mitchell - Will debut, continues to improve, plays 5+ full games, regular sub, used to rest midfielders. Sydney will use Cunnington/Mitchell to regularly rest the midfield all year, team to be managed more like Geelong 2011.
  • Browne - Will debut, continues to improve, will play 5 games max including subs to help for injured Eski.
  • Lamb - Will debut, continues to improve, will play 5 games max including subs.
  • Goodes - has peaked, will be managed, spends total of 5 games resting throughout season, 80% of time in forward line, kicks 40+ goals.
  • Bolton - has peaked, will play primarily in forward 50, will only play between 1/2 and 2/3rds of the season, will have a quiet year, plays finals, controversially dropped for GF.
  • McVeigh - has peaked, will maintain form.
  • O'Keefe - has peaked, leadership will be more important than ever. Inconsistent 1st half of season, killer 2nd half of season again.
  • LRT - has peaked, will be dropped a few times, will play 3qtrs of season, will move between forward and backline, versatility will continue to be strength.
  • Mummy - has peaked, will spend significant time in forward line as resting ruck, will attempt to develop new skills with varying success. Will miss between 1/2 and 1/3 of games due to crumbling knee and careful management, will be managed for remainder of career. Will have a great finals campaign.
  • Mattner - has peaked, will maintain form.
  • Shaw - has peaked, will run and bounce a lot, will has great finals series.
  • Eski - has peaked, will return to prior years good form though before minor injury in 2nd half of season. He will be rested for 5+ games and ready for finals. Below par finals series.
  • Tippett - Will continue to improve, average 2 goals a game, will play important role in finals.
  • Rohan might play 1-2 games, will spend parts of 2nd half of year in reserves. Wont be back full time until 2014.
  • Walsh - will play a couple of games and will sub a few games. Will improve in reserves.
  • White - will play a couple of games max to maintain value for trade season, then be traded to Brisbane.
  • Starling - will be a sub for a GWS game. Will play most of year in reserves.
  • Longmire - will lose his nickname to Starling : /
  • Ciggie - Will spain an ankle and an impostor will stand is - but no-one will know!
  • Back2Back - BLOODS 2013
SOOO MUCH improvement left in the squad still, and while the veterans form will probably slide a little, the team will definitely be stronger next year. I cringe at the thought that they rest on their laurels/lose their hunger/become arrogant like so many other premiership teams, but if Sydney's culture is all its cracked up to be then this wont happen.

As usual we wont be favorites for 2013, but we will be top 4. IMO Sydney have a significantly better chance of winning the 2013 flag. No matter what the result, the strength of the team will shine and the chance of some quality free-agents wanting to be traded to Sydney next October should increase (not that we'll need them).

Strong times ahead for 2013, 2014 and maybe even 2015, BRING IT!! = )

That's funny, that's exactly what I was going to say, down to the very word.
