2013 Expectations

Think I would almost have the signature of Hanners before each and every single one of them except Kennedy.
Yeah, didn't include him as i thought i remembered an AdelaideNow article about us re-signing him, but it was only "our intention to re-sign him", so not a done deal. Yes, we need him locked in too. I've watched the Grand Final a LOT (hey, i'm on a ship... not much else to do out here) and every time i get more and more convinced that ROK has Hannebery's Norm Smith. Here's hoping he gets one this year instead. :thumbsu:

Our young core to step up and show they are ready to take the reigns from the older crew. I'm talking Hannebery, Morton, Mitchell, Jetta, Rohan, Armstrong, Johnson, Membrey, Towers, Reid and Lamb all need to play consistent footy and put pressure on some of the older players to keep their spots. This has got to the be the most competitive and difficult 22 to crack in the competition.

Top 4 - anything less is a bust although the Swans can absolutely make a GF from 5-8.

i want to see a signature on Kennedy otherwise it will be an ongoing issue that he will want to go home...lets hope not, our club gave him the opportunity to become who he is and now a premiership player...
i would expect top 4 for us...
i think b2b is not unreasonable...
i expect the melbounre media to write us off AGAIN...
i expect the HAWKS to be flag fav's
i would hope to see some yng players gets soem game time this year...
i want us to smash the blues to stick it up malthouse...
i want us to play Adelaide in a pre-lim and Tippett to kick 6-8 on them

i expect the melbounre media to write us off AGAIN...

Can't see this happening again unfortunately. Our midfield depth is the best in the league and improved now. With Tippett/Membrey/Rohan potentially, our forward line is much improved also.

Up to now, we've been seen as battlers who toil but never win or lose by much.

I think 2013 will see a change: opposition clubs will start to fear us and the media will go on about how "well balanced", "dangerous" we are...

No more underdog status imo.

I don't know about that the collingwood board has already written us off.

And we all know the vic media takes there que's from bigfooty.

Was amusing and insulting read. Tippett won't make an impact even structurally, the season we were reliant on minded, goodes, ROK and bolton, we obviously have no one to step up next year, rohan can only run fast... good read

Add to that Bolton is apparently "gone" and Mumford is breaking down, Jetta was the only reason we won the prelim and we'll just be our usual 6th to 8th self (Despite, you know, making three grand finals and winning two flags in seven years).

Very insightful stuff.

Like any year, I am happy if Sydney gets a home final. Naturally being the reigning Premiers up that to top four .

Only three teams have won the flag from outside the top two since the introduction of the current final 8 finals system in 2000. One, was the epic Brisbane side from 2003 and the others, 2005 and 2012.

I'll be happy & hoping for a Top 4ish placing.. I'll be Cheering that on all the way..
(O, & Swans to Win the GF again, but by 30 plus points this time)

I would say Alex Johnson is already putting a lot of pressure on the other defenders. Him and Nick Smith were the unsung heroes of the finals campaign. Alex in particular found another level. Hannebery is very silky but his disposal efficiency can be poor (outside of DT points) but his bravery makes up for it. Morton needs to find a bit more consistency but he has already come a long way. Mitchell too will take a fair bit of time to find his feet, considering his injuries and lack of senior experience last year. Reid has shown in patches how brilliant he can be, hope it all clicks for him this year. Don't forget Jed Lamb, apparently he's come back hard this pre-season and is smashing out some good times. Alex Brown has also been impressing a lot of ressies watchers too.

If I posted my expectations they'd be seen as cynical and pessimistic - these are my hopes!

Tom Mitchell to play 20+ games (any less than this means he has been injured again. He is good enough to command a spot)
Mitch Morton to command a best 22 spot and go back to averaging 2+ goals a game
Mike Pyke to play every game and improve his impact up forward
Alex Starling to actually turn up
Nick Malceski to maintain his form from the finals series throughout all of 2013
Adam Goodes to have an injury-free year
Rohan to play 10+ games in the reserves

I don't think Joey Kennedy will be getting homesick any time soon, did you see his girlfriend on Brownlow night. I would forget Mum & Dad if I had her!
