Glad to see that teams are making other teams pay the price for the quality of the player - cant believe melbourne got Viney for a 2nd rounder last year

Wouldn't have happened if Melbourne weren't so shit. If they'd finished with pick 7-8 they would have coughed up a 1st rounder.

I don't think Salem will fall to us anymore, might be a bolter in this draft

Very even outside of Boyd. There's probably another 3 that will go 2-4 and then 5 onwards who the **** knows?

Aish, Kelly, Bergs and Billings should be the remainding top 5.

Not convinced Billings will go that high. He could but I don't think it's a certainty. Though GC could take the punt on him developing his midfield game more or just playing him off a flank. IMO Dogs, Saints, Dees can't afford to do that. Need a certainty.

I agree, he's coped in the midfield at junior levels through his innate football knowledge, he will be found out if played in the midfield at AFL level, it would be a mistake to draft a medium half forward within the first 5 picks, he is slightly built and you would hope he would fill out with a heavy weights based program, consistency is an issue as well. (And his height) Could be an option off the HBF though. Would not part with a Top 5 Pick for him.

Only one would be GC trying to add fire power up forward as their midfield is already ridiculous. WC and Brisbane won't take him I wouldn't think and Norf can't. Then we're down to GWS and Collingwood. GWS need big bodies and Pies have a lot of small/medium half forward types. Then we get to us at pick 12, which is way below predicted but possible he lasts and even we aren't certainties there.

Billings has struggled with injury though. I saw his game against the Eastern Ranges in March, he can play. And clubs have benefitted taking risks with injuries in the past. If Billings wants to slip to Richmond then I'm very happy. :)

Who would you prefer, Billings at our 1st or a new and rejuvenated Garlett at our 3rd?

Think Crouch and Taylor will end up at Collingwood if they keep both picks otherwise they will most likely get Adams and Taylor.

Would if be safe to rule out Brisbane for going for any metro boys?

Would you take him at our pick? Would he play as the small forward we so crave or would he be more an O'Hanlon/Knights upgrade

Yep because he's what we need with an established midfield an ordinary fwd line. He'd be perfect. Though I'd take Salem ahead

I'd take Dunstan, Lennon, Dumont, Sheed and Acres as well ahead of him.

just thinking about it

1.GWS - Boyd
2 - 4 Melb, Saints and WB - Kelly, Scharneberg and Aish
5. GC - ???? (Lennon, Bontempelli or Billings my guess)
6. WC - Sheed
7. Lions - ??? (Lennon)
8. North - McDonald
9. GWS - ??? (Lennon, Billings)
10. Collingwood - Taylor
11. Collingwood - ???? (Maybe McCartney as i can't think of any KPF they have??)
12. Richmond leaves us probably Salem, Acres or Dunstan.

Both sound like good ideas. Richmond lacks smaller forwards, Edwards is more of a marking tall, White is gone, Knights is injury prone and Edwards tries to play midfielder and small forward. On talent alone, Garlett is a top ten pick, it just depends if Richmond are comfortable combining Garlett and Martin, there's a part of me that thinks it could be a train wreck. It's a fair risk, but most 3rd round picks are risks.

I definitely think Billings is a top ten talent, I tend to think his inability to play midfield may be because of his injuries rather than his limitations. And I think refusing to pick a very talented player due to injuries is generally a mistake, especially in midfielders. Most players struggle with midfield duties because they're not athletic enough for it, but I think Billings is. He's not likely to be good inside but that's okay. I saw him at the champs and loved his game. I think he's got the game to be a high production quality player at AFL level, and he reminds me a bit of Johnson in his evasiveness, vision and ability to rack up touches on a flank. He also loves a goal too.

I listened to the tac grand final and a kid called Traynor played well for the rangers. Anyone know if he will get a look in? also for Dandenong hartung seemed to be the pick of them. any info on these guys chances?

Would happily use pick 12 on Dunstan. Just putting it out their.

Inside grunt, leadership and good user of the football, never going to be an out an out star but one of more certain players to play 200+ games IMO.

Like your thoughts, surprising to note that Billings dimensions are 183cm and 78Kg, with Aish being 182cm and only 70Kg, would have thought that Aish was taller as he appears to be taller when watched live, Billings can take a grab overhead!

Traynor I am led to believe is underage and eligible to be drafted next year, Hartung is likely go from the middle of the 1st Round to middle of the 2nd Round at the latest, impressed throughout the year with his run and dash whilst also showing his running capacity at the draft combine with a brilliant record breaking score of 16.6 !

Out of curiosity why does no-one seem to mention matt crouch in richmond forums, lot of people complain about out lack of inside grunt and arguably beside from sheed remains the best specialist inside mid.

Personally ive already stated i'd like freeman and wish we hadnt traded second round pick so we could get jono marsh also love the talk bout acres - keep it up.

One thing goin against billings is his inabiliity to handle a tag, bit like lids, alot of the reason they plunk him upforward besides his lack of endurance is he cant handle the close attention.

I think it's because I, along with others assumed that Dunstan and Sheed would be available at Richmond's pick. And I'd rather Dunstan over Sheed, both can do it inside but have a better outside game. Crouch plays like Boyd, racks it up but his kicking is average, doesn't have much athleticism and doesn't have a great outside game. I expect him to be snapped up by Collingwood before Richmond's pick anyway.

Freeman isn't bad, I wonder about his consistency though.

Fair point. In a bottom team, Billings would struggle, but in a side like Richmond, I think he'd be fine. Like Johnson, Billings can't shake a tag, but with the other Richmond midfielders, I doubt he'd have to. Who would tag Billings if you've go Deledio and Martin to worry about?
